WEEKS SIXTH AND SEVENTH UPDATE ON “OPERATION HAWK DESCEND”

CUSTOMS PRESS STATEMENT

The Nigeria Customs Service has recorded seizures of Frozen poultry products worth N14,611,500.00 (Fourteen Million, Six Hundred and 
Eleven Thousand, Five Hundred Naira). The record was made in the sixth (6) and Seventh (7) weeks of zero tolerance on importation of frozen poultry products tagged “Operation Hawk Descend”.

2. The seizures which consist of 3,247 (Three Thousand, Two Hundred and Fourty Seven) cartons of the banned products were impounded at 
different locations along the south western borders of Nigeria. This includes Badagry, Agbara Creeks and Villages. Others locations include Seme, Gbaji and Owode Creeks in Lagos and Idiroko axis.

3. The breakdown of the seizures is as follows;

OGUN: Quantity=1,120 cartons; Value: N5,040,000.00

SEME: Quantity = 146 cartons; Value = N657,000.00

FOU A: Quantity = 1,981cartons; Value = N8,914,500.00

Quantity = 3,247 cartons; Total Value = N14,611,500.00

4. While commending the steadfastness of the operatives in this operation, the management of the service assures the general public of 
its determination to continue the onslaught against the smugglers of the banned products.

5. Traders and consumers of the banned frozen poultry products are advised to patronize local farmers as this will create job 
opportunities for our youths, boost our economy and save Nigerians from diseases  associated with consumption of dangerous chemicals used 
in preserving the banned poultry products.
