Kano
state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has directed the contractor
handling Sumaila Township 5 kilometer dualized road in Sumaila local
government area to return to site.
Governor
Ganduje, who gave the directive during the commissioning of Government
Technical School, Sumaila, said the directive is in line with the
administration’s commitment to complete projects inherited from the
immediate past administration.
He
also promised to make funds available for completion of Sumaila town
water and electricity projects in view of their importance to the
socio-economic development of the local government.
On
the technical school which was awarded in 2013, he noted that it was
constructed at the sum of over N177 million and consists of several
laboratories and workshops, classes administrative block and other
infrastructure.
He
urged youth in the area to take advantage of the school, to acquire
skills that will enable them to become self reliant instead of becoming
liabilities to their parents and communities.
In
his speech, the local government council chairman, Abdulhamid Idris
Rimi thanked the state government for constructing the school appealed
to the governor to pay compensation for the land acquired for the
project.
He
also urged the state government to intervene in restoring electricity
to Sumaila town and to assist the local government in its determination
to rectify the age – long water problem facing the local government
headquarters.
Meanwhile,
governor Ganduje inspected and commissioned some projects executed by
the state government and local government councils including the
completed Gadar Mahauta – Bakin Kasuwar Rimi culvert and interlocking,
Magashi drainage, Panisau – Koranchi culvert and drainage Yahaya Mai Mai
road dualization, Kuka Daya – Gama E culvert, and Layin Kuka Unguwa uku
drainage in Kano Municipal, Gwale, Ungoggo and Nassarawa local
government areas.
