INTELLIGENCE- LED POLICING, THE ULTIMATE FOR NIGERIA

 
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon E. Arase, NPM, fdc, has reaffirmed his belief in intelligence-led policing, saying it is the ultimate for Nigeria.
 
IGP Solomon Arase said this on September 18, 2015, when he played host to the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in his office at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
 
He maintained that policing Nigeria in the 21st Century requires intelligence gathering and analysis to effectively Police the Country.
 
Responding, the Director-General, NIMC, Mr. Chris Onyemena, said they were in the Police Headquarters for a courtesy visit to the Inspector-General of Police and his management team, saying the lofty vision of IGP Solomon Arase in policing Nigeria was the reason for his organization’s seeking partnership with the Nigeria Police. He also maintained that they were ready to collaborate with the Nigeria Police in providing a database for the on-going National Identification exercises.
 
IGP Arase assured his guests that the Nigeria Police under his administration is ever ready to partner with credible organizations for the security of the country.
 
He also used the occasion to intimate his guests and Nigerians of his desire for a standard and automated database in the issuance of Character certificate and tinted glasses to avoid discrepancies, emphasizing that a proper identification database will assist the police in recruiting credible youths when the recruitment exercise commences.
