OONI OF IFE HALE, HEARTY – High Chief
A High Chief in Ile-Ife, has refuted the reports
going the round that the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade has joined his
ancestors yesterday.
The story broke out last night on the social media
and the traditional media too followed suit but the High Chief dismissed the
story and said the Ooni is hale and hearty.
Addressing journalists at the palace of the Ooni in
Ife, the high chief, Joseph Ijaodola, faulted the story that the traditional
ruler had died in a London hospital Tuesday.
The Lowa Adimula of Ife, who was flanked by the
secretary, Royal Traditional Council, Adetoye Odewole, said they are in touch
with the highly referred traditional ruler.
The duo argued that according to the tradition if
the Ooni had joined his ancestors, the palace would be the first to know, and
would be the only authority to announce the development.
They not only described the reports as mere rumour, but
said it this was not the first time such false reports would be made about him.
