Bible Verses about Saving Money

Proverbs 21:20 warns against wasters:
Precious treasure and oil are in a wise man's dwelling, but a foolish man devours it.

Proverbs 13:11 encourages saving but discourages greed or evil ways of generating fund:
Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it.

Proverbs 10:4-5 is one of the best verses on biblical saving when it says:
A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich. He who gathers in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who brings shame.

Proverbs 13:22 says any worthy parents must safe for the children:
A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, but the sinner's wealth is laid up for the righteous.

1 Corinthians 16:2 asks us to save for giving to the Lord:
On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be no collecting when I come.

Proverbs 22:7 encourages riches and against borrowing!
The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.

Luke 14:28 promotes saving for the future:
For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?

1 Timothy 5:8 says a Father should safe provide for his household
But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

1 Timothy 6:10 says a lover of money is a waster!
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

2 Corinthians 9:6 says what you keep is what you have!
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

Ephesians 4:28 promotes saving to help the poor.
Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labour, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.

Matthew 25:14-30 promotes investment
“For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master's money. ...

Hebrews 13:5 says we should shun love of money:
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Acts 20:35 teaches hardworking to help the poor:
In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

1 John 2:15-17 preaches against wasteful life:
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

Luke 16:11 teaches diligence and godly ways of making money:  
If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches?

Proverbs 13:7 is against wasteful lifestyle:
One pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.

Proverbs 6:6-8- saving and storage against rain:
Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest.

2 Corinthians 8:9 says Jesus has paid the price for our riches!
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.

Genesis 41:47-49- saving against raining day according to Joseph.
During the seven plentiful years the earth produced abundantly, and he gathered up all the food of these seven years, which occurred in the land of Egypt, and put the food in the cities. He put in every city the food from the fields around it. And Joseph stored up grain in great abundance, like the sand of the sea, until he ceased to measure it, for it could not be measured.

Matthew 6:19-20 safe keeping for the great beyond:
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Proverbs 19:17 says we should give to the poor which means you must have to give!
Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.

1 Timothy 6:6 –a greed or waster is ungodly!
Now there is great gain in godliness with contentment,

1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Luke 19:8 says if you don’t keep you may be in problem in future!
And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor. And if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold.”

Philippians 4:11-12 –Stands against gratification
Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.
