While commemorating the Commandant General Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu on his recent posting, the Association of Licensed Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALSPN) used the opportunity to update the Corps, marking the official first public function of the second substantive CG 21 companies that scaled through the various hurdles and screening processes as operating as private guards in the country were issues license
The CG while addressing the operatives read out the riot act thereby informing them that his vision for the PGCs is to ensure standardization in the industry and there should be a pattern which will make the industry an enviable one as compared to the banking and oil sector, in order to make the industry look more lucrative and attractive to job seekers. He also congratulated the former Commandant General on his dream and passion in accomplishing the job in repositioning the PGCs.
Therefore, in line with the Corps mandate in monitoring regulating, supervising, registering, training and licensing of the PGCs, licences are issued to only patriotic Nigerians and not to foreigners. The license should neither be sold or hired out. The licence is issued for the purpose is protection and safety of Nigerians.
It is also for the purpose of monitoring, observing and reporting crime, most especially to NSCDC. PGCs by law, are not permitted to purchase, bear or sell firearms. They are not allow to use any uniform aside from what is approved by the Corps. The license is only valid if it is being renewed annually. Furthermore, he encouraged the practitioners to patronise the Corps Commands for their training most especially the College for Security Management established in Abeokuta Ogun State for the purpose of training the PGCs at no cost.
In the same vein the President Mr. Davidson Akhimien of the Association encouraged the newly licensed operatives and congratulated them for being the first to receive the blessing of the new CG. He tasked them by saying that their coming into the industry is impactful as regards national development and their contribution towards national security. He encouraged them to work hand in had with the Corps to ensure standardization. He stressed further on the need for information and intelligence gathering as one of the core hubs to the nation.
Princess Nanna Ngozi Dahiru of Mekaima Global Security Services Ltd, one of the newly license practitioners, appreciated the efforts of the Corps permitting them to receive their license today despite the hurdles they passed though. Similarly, Cheif Akivie Paradise of Pakivie Global Resources congratulated the CG and assured the Corps of their readiness and commitment to partner and to work in line with the conditions set aside by the Corps.
