The chairman of the Rivers
State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bro Felix Obuah says the
deliberate refusal of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the State to
acknowledge the impressive performance of Governor Nyesom Wike is not only
selfish and ungrateful but also shows the APC never meant well for the State in
the first instance.
Stating that political
opposition is far from outright lies and
fabrications aimed at deceiving the people and inciting crisis, the
State PDP chairman through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity,
Jerry Needam accused the APC of evolving and strengthening politics of
bitterness and ‘pull-him’ down syndrome in the State which he said undermine
progress and development.
Taking
exception to the many lies of the APC which it dished out recently to the press
through its State chairman, Davies Ikanya, the State PDP boss, observed that
the unnecessary characterization and unfair prejudices against the Governor
Wike administration were informed by petty jealousy and want of what to do to
castigate a purposeful and visionary leadership that has achieved in less than
six months what the APC government could not do in four years, under Amaechi.
Describing ingratitude
as the worst of all human frailties, Bro Obuah advised that for both Mr. Ikanya
as a person and the APC to make substantial progress in life, they must learn
to tow the path of truth as the only virtue that can set one free.
According
to Obuah, the State has never had it so good as Gov Wike has been able to
prudently and frugally channeled the little resources that have accrued the
State since his assumption of office to meaningful projects which find
expression in the good road network in Port Harcourt, the State capital and
other parts of the State, stressing that while most of these roads have been
completed, others are at various stages of completion.
The
State PDP chairman also noted that it is common knowledge that it’s Gov Wike’s
timely intervention that saved hundreds of students of Rivers origin on RSSDA
scholarship overseas who were at the verge of repatriation because of former
Governor Amaechi’s failure to pay their fees and upkeep allowances for over 2
years.
“But
turning around to allege that it’s Gov Wike that was the cause of the students’
predicament is not only passing the buck to save the shameful act of its failed
leader, Amaechi, but also a wicked conception that can only come from an evil
and unappreciative mind,” Bro Obuah stressed, also adding that there is no iota
of truth in the allegation that the Wike administration is discriminating
against non-student indigenes studying in tertiary institutions in the State.
This,
the State PDP chairman said, was to score a cheap political point as Gov Wike
is too busy to meddle into the administration of high institutions in the State
that have their heads and administrators well qualified to handle such matters.
On
the allegation of planning to obtain another N10 billion loan by Gov Nyesom
Wike, he said His Excellency had never applied for any loan other than the ones
legally and legitimately approved by the State House of Assembly which were
necessitated by the wrecking of the State treasury by the Amaechi-led
government.
Bro
Obuah, however, wondered why the APC has just realized that to obtain a loan is
to mortgage the State when former Gov Amaechi made borrowing a routine affair
despite the huge resources and federal allocations at his disposal yet the APC
never uttered a word.
