Meanwhile, the Nigerian Police have confirmed that 2 female suicide bombers were responsible for the blast, which also injured several people.
The explosions have, however, thrown the people of Kano in panic against the backdrop of assurances that the authorities had given them that the tide of terrorism has been stemmed in the state.
Although Police said only three people lost their lives in the explosions, witnesses said they counted close to 20 people believed to have died after the blasts.
According to an eyewitness the twin blasts, which exploded within 5 minutes interval, occurred around 4:15pm at the entrance of the market at a time visitors and traders were going for prayers.
The State Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Musa Katsina who addressed newsmen at the scene of the blast, said six female suicide bombers were deployed to the market all brought in a Sharron vehicle.
He said only two of the suicide bombers were dropped at the market, while the remaining four took to their heel immediately.
Katsina who then onfirmed three persons dead while eight injured have been taking to an undisclosed hospital.
He said Police were on top of the situation, promising to track down the perpetrator as soon as possible.
The occurrence has forced many shop owners to close their stores while the incident has started causing heavy traffic to build up around the area.
