In
continuation of efforts to bring succour to distressed inhabitants of
liberated communities affected by insurgency in the North east, the
Zonal Coordinator of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in
Maiduguri Mohammed Kanar has led a team of emergency workers and other
stakeholders to deliver relief materials in Dikwa Local Government
Council of Borno State.
The items distributed
to the internally Persons include food, tents, medical supplies,
firewood, cooking utensils, clean water among others.
Thousands
of visibly elated residents lined the streets to welcome the team which
included representatives of international bodies like UNICEF and Red
Cross.
Local government health workers
embarked on erection of tents,immunisation of children,and
administration of drugs to those requiring medical attention.
In
his address Mohammed Kanar said that internally displaced people would
soon return to their homes after the security personel would have given
the clearance. He said: "As soon as final clearance is received from the
military,rehabilitation of structures destroyed by insurgents will be
done to enable the displaced communities to return to their homes."
This
is the second time that NEMA has taken relief items to Dikwa of recent.
In due course more liberated communities in Bama,Gwoza,Askira Uba,Marte
and Baga LGAs are expected to benefit from operations of such nature.
