In
view of the rush, anxiety and excitement which often accompany end of year activities
which in most cases lead to avoidable manmade disaster, the Commandant General,
NSCDC Abduallahi Gana Mohammadu has mandated the Corps personnel to redouble
their efforts and be proactive in tackling various security challenges associated
with the ember months.
He
stated this at the opening ceremony of a one day capacity building program organised
by the Servicom Unit at the National Headquarters to bring together the frontline
staff of the Corps for the purpose of developing knowledge and skills aimed at
taking the Corps to greater height.
Speaking
through the Acting Deputy Commandant General Admin, Mrs. Abosede Isimi, the Commandant
General emphasised the need for personnel to continually develop themselves, re-strategise
on modus operandi and embrace sophistication in tactics and equipments.
He
stressed that positive attitude to work, mental re-orientation and renewed mindset are some of the necessary requirements
for excellent service delivery.
Adding
that the Corps mandate which include disaster and Crisis Management, Protection
of Critical Infrastructures and National
Assets among others could be tested at this
period and there must be no room for service failure.
The
Corps must continue to provide 24 hours security for all Critical Infrastructures
and National Assets such as Oil Pipelines, Transport, Telecommunications and Power
equipment to make life more meaningful for citizens of Nigeria and visitors
alike.
The
representative of the Servicom office, Presidency, Miss Famata Gaji who doubles
as one of the resource persons expresses satisfaction with the performance and quality
of service rendered by the Corps and commended her as an organisation devoid of
stain and blemish.
She
admonished the Corps personnel to continue to be shinning examples to other security agencies
by sustaining the tempo of hardwork, efficiency, accountability, transparency
and dedication to duty so that the Corps
can continue to enjoy public confidence.
In
terms of expectation, the Corps Chief Executive urges the personnel to be good ambassadors
as they will be deployed to strategic and sensitive locations such as Airports,
Worship Centres, Car Parks, Recreation Centre, Black Spots and vulnerable
points.
He
charged them to represent the organisation very well by having a clear and
logical layout to actively listen to people's complaints and respond with understanding
in order to provide solution and resolve the cause of the complaint to stop
them from re-occurring again.
He
reassures Nigerians that the Corps is determined to serve them better and will
embark on public enlightment campaign to caution the people and offer tips on
safety and vigilance so that their actions and in action does not lead to
disaster, trepidation or panicky situation especially at this time when
criminals and insurgents are on the prowl to unleash mayhem on innocent citizens.
