Is A Sign Of Confusion In APC - PDP
The Rivers State
chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says the contradictory and
conflicting positions of former governor Rotimi Amaechi, his surrogate, Dakuku
Peterside and the chairman of the All progressives Congress, APC Governors’
Forum, Gov Rochas Okorocha of Imo State about the April 11, 2015 governorship
election in Rivers State are a sign of confusion in APC and the consequence of
a desperate attempt to justify unfounded lies and falsehood.
The State PDP
chairman, Bro Felix Obuah made the observation through a statement by his
Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam in reaction to the public
admission by Governor Okorocha of the APC that the governorship election in Rivers
State actually took place, members of the APC
and Rivers people voted, a sharp contrast and dismissal of Amaechi’s and
the APC’s testimony before the State governorship election petitions tribunal
that no governorship election took place in the State.
Describing the
conflicting statements of Amaechi, Dakuku Peterside and Gov Okorocha over the
Rivers State gov’ship election as the inevitable folly of parallel political
comedians with contrasting mindsets forcing themselves together in their
desperation to achieve a common goal but to no avail, the State PDP chairman,
said Okorocha and Amaechi are only similar in their self-seeking desire to
remain in power but unfortunately are operating in extremely different
political environments (Imo and Rivers) and will continue to speaking from
different sides of their mouths.
One good thing
however, about Gov Okorocha’s public statement according to Bro Felix Obuah
about the April 2015 governorship election in Rivers State and the plot by the
APC to upturn the people’s choice of the PDP’s candidate, and State governor, Nyesom
Wike through the backdoor is the acceptance that the governorship election held
in Rivers State and the electorate voted.
“We would want
Nigerians and the whole world to take note of the APC’s unstable and confusing
statements with respect to what the laws say about the act of deceiving and
misinforming in a serious issue like State election,” the State PDP chairman
pointed out.
It
would be recalled that Governor Rochas Okorocha while addressing newsmen
recently in Owerri said the desperation of the party to take over the two
South/South States of Rivers and Akwa Ibom is because the election took place
and the electorate voted for the APC in the April 11, 2015 governorship
elections in the two States.
Even
though Okorocha who has allegedly converted Imo State to a family estate did
not explain how his APC intends to actualize the plot, the PDP State Chairman
warned him and his fellow plotters to steer clear of the State as the Rivers
people are prepared to resist any unlawful means to snatch the mandate given to
Gov. Wike.
Bro.
Obuah advised the governor of the crisis ridden Imo State to engage his time in
solving the myriad of problems he has foisted on the Imo people that have
turned the historic Sam Mbakwe nation to a mere shadow of its glorious past.
To before warned
is to be armed, the PDP State boss stressed, calling the whole world to take
note of those to hold responsible for any eventual mayhem that may befall the
State and defenceless Rivers people, should the APC make real their threat to
armtwist the hands of the law.
Even though the Rivers people are
more than ready to defend their mandate willingly and fairly given to Governor
Nyesom Wike, the PDP State Chairman wants the entire Nigerians to take note of
the grand plot to cause crisis in the polity and demand to know whether such
witch-hunt, forceful usurpation of power and executive lawlessness are what the
CHANGE mantra of President Buhari is all about.
“While we place
our trust in God and believe that the truth will prevail in the face of the
unprecedented plot against the will of the people, we make bold to say that the
Rivers people are waiting and cannot be intimidated”, Bro. Obuah declared.
