Greatness definitely runs in his family. We know his mother, Stella Adadevoh, the heroine doctor who lost her life in the fight against Ebola. His mother’s great-grandfather is Herbert Macaulay and she was also the grand niece of Nnamdi Azikiwe. Listed by Forbes as one of the 30 Most Promising Young Entrepreneurs In Africa, Bankole Cardoso is also a great man. He wanted a simple way to aid commuting in Lagos and standardize pricing of taxis around the country. This was how he started Easy Taxi in Nigeria. With an app available for smartphones, users could connect to the drivers closest to them, get the drivers’ information and track the driver on the map in real time. Present in 30 countries, Nigeria was the first country to launch it in Africa. It currently has a network of over 400 drivers in Lagos with services extended to Abuja. The young man believed in his dream and put in the work needed for it. He would wake up early, put on flip flops and drive around Lagos talking to different taxi drivers and explaining the Easy Taxi application to them. Now, Easy Taxi is one of the most taxi apps in Lagos and Abuja. Though he resigned as CEO of the company early this year, he has said that there will no be burned bridge between them, only an opportunity for him to take on new projects. The proud son of a doctor father, Afolabi Emmanuel Cardoso, and a medical doctor mother, Stella Adadevoh was born some 27 years ago. He had always had a strong interest in business. So, when he was just 21, he became a 2010 graduate of Accounting and Business Management from Boston College, US. Before then, he attended Corona school, Ikoyi for his primary school, and Grange Secondary School, both in Lagos, before going to Rugby School in the United Kingdom for his GCSE and A-Levels. On graduating, he moved to New York to work with Carlyle Group and as an associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), where he earned his CPA (Certified Public Accountant) credentials. Although still affiliated with the company, he stepped down as the CEO of Easy Taxi in January, 2015 |

These are definitely not the best of
times for Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema as things appear to have
gone worse since his arrest for conspiracy to blackmail French
international team mate Mathieu Valbuena.
French authorities
on Thursday morning confirmed that Benzema had been charged with
complicity in an attempt to blackmail and conspiring to commit a
criminal act. The charges could land Benzema with a sentence of up to
five years in prison.
Benzema is now reported to be involved in
a completely different case concerning the trafficking of cocaine, in
one of the largest drug trafficking scandals France has ever seen.

the first goal with Patrice Evra, Mathieu Valbuena during the 2014 FIFA
World Cup Brazil Group E match between France and Honduras at Estadio
Beira-Rio on June 15, 2014 in Porto Alegre, Brazil. (Photo by Ian

Said scandal is nicknamed ‘Air Cocaine’ in the French press, and magazine Le Point have
revealed that the number one suspect – an individual who is accused of
having paid for and sponsored flights from France to the Dominican
Republic and Ecuador – was initially found because of his links with the
Real Madrid striker.
The mastermind behind these transatlantic
flights is purported to be a man known as “Daryan” or “Rayan” – a
football agent and a big football fan – according to the two men who
organised the flights, named Frank Colin and Nicolas Pisapia. It is
meant to be he who had enough money to pay for the flights, and he’s
said to currently live in Spain or Italy.
Though he’s said to
have lived close to Benzema, and the link between the two of them is
currently being investigated. Another man, by the name of Ali Bouchareb,
was arrested last year and is said to be another suspect in the Air
Cocaine case.
Alarmingly, during a
raid on his house after his arrest, several photos of Bouchareb with
Benzema were reportedly found, and even autographed shoes from the Real
Madrid man.
Benzema’s agent, Karim Djaziri said in
response to the allegations: “I am not aware of this story and have
never heard of a member of Karim Benzema’s entourage being imprisoned in
Spain for drug trafficking. You know, Karim has 20 million fans on
Facebook. Any madman can take selfies with him several times. It does
not mean they are related.”

Ivory Coast international football player, Yaya Toure, says some
African footballers are not trying enough to be their very best.
Having said last month that not enough African players are
recognised for football’s top individual award, he has now suggested
many who join European clubs are not willing to give enough.
Speaking with France Football, he said:
He also said part of the problem was that players like himself,
compatriot Didier Drogba, former Cameroon striker Samuel Eto’o, Ghanaian
midfielder Michael Essien and ex-Nigeria attacker Jay-Jay Okocha had
set the bar very high for those following them.
Toure, who is now 30, is in the running to win the African Footballer
of the Year award for a fifth time after the list of nominees was cut
to a 10-man shortlist earlier this week. He is also the only African on
the shortlist for the FIFA Ballon d’Or award for the fourth year in a
row.
