During the Second Republic, we knew Obafemi Awolowo led Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) and its four cardinal programmes like Free Education at all levels; Free Medical Care, Gainful Employment etc. The ruling National Party of Nigeria (NPN) promised Qualitative Education, Housing for All, etc but today, nobody knows the programmes and the Blue Print of the ruling APC.
During the electioneering campaign, they promised everything that is good and that is desirable but after their inauguration, they were telling us that they never made those laudable promises again! This is why their cynics and critics telling Nigerians that Nigerians did not vote for CHANGE But for ONE CHANCE party. The party has not helped matters, there is no excuse why a party that had won the mandate since March could not have put in a place a cabinet many months after. In fairness to him, President Muhammadu Buhari has told the whole world that the cabinet is a club of noise makers. He even said in India (he likes talking to us while abroad) last week that not all the 36 ministers will be given portfolios! Who would correct him? Who could correct his grandfather? That is part of the packages we bargained for.
Someone said, with that position, may be only Ogbonaya Onu will be given portfolios since the Southeast did not vote massively for him. The Northeast that was in a war situation with the terrorists still voted in millions for the APC and Buhari yet the Southeast did not. Go and check what the Northeast has been given from the Service Chiefs to the State House.
I reliably gathered that each of the ministers would be asked to produce a Blueprint for his/her ministry since there is no Blue Print to give. Why can't the APC borrowed from the PDP when it won the 1998 general election and became inaugurated. President Olusegun Obasanjo inaugurated a conference where the blueprint for his government was designed. Whether it was followed to letter or not after is another issue. I don't know what this party is taking Nigerians for. 2019 is not far away, the earlier they wake up the better for them.
Few days ago, two of my cousins were discussing how the APC fooled them to vote for them with a promise to be giving them a stipend of N5000 monthly as jobless graduates "but few months after, nobody remembers that again but do they think we have forgotten? Even when one APC Senator raised it during the ministerial screening, Raji Fashola cleverly forgot to address the issue."
Since the press and the civil society were involved in the auctioning of the dummy we bought, who would dare talk especially when the security operatives, according to the opposition PDP is living up to the expectation of the ruling party? So help us God.
