POLO CLUB HONOURS FALLEN HEROES






        Personnel of the Nigerian Army who paid the supreme sacrifices in the course of their duty would ever be remembered for their contributions in restoring peace to the troubled regions of the country.  The Chairman, Advisory Board, 12-12 Polo and Turf Club, Abuja,  Malam Murtala Aliyu stated this  when he led the Executive members of the Club on a courtesy call on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai at the Army Headquarters.

The Chairman further stated that the club will continue to pay tribute to the fallen officers and soldiers  and also raise awareness to the conditions of the families left behind, offering them support so as to express the nation’s gratitude to them, stressing that their sacrifices would not be in vain.

He used the occasion to officially invite the Nigerian Army to a tournament tagged “International Charity Polo Tournament which will commence from 12 - 15 November 2015, comprising the President’s Cup and Fallen Heroes’ Commemoration Cup, adding that the existing cordial relationship between the Nigerian Army and the club will continue to grow from strength to strength.

Responding, the COAS thanked them for the visit, promising that the Nigerian Army would honour their invitation to participate in the tournament. He added that the Nigerian Armed Forces in general and the Army in particular are saddled with the responsibility of protecting the sovereignty of the country, assuring that the Nigerian Army is working hard to ensure that insurgency is brought to a logical conclusion in line with the Presidential directive.

Present during the visit were some Principal Staff Officers of the Army Headquarters, as well as Executive members of the 12-12 Polo and Turf Club.
