GOV. GANDUJE SOLICITS SUPPORT TO NIGERIAN LEGION




About 7 million was realized Wednesday during the launch of the 2016 Armed Forces Emblem Appall Fund launch in Kano state.
 
The largest donation of N4. 4 million came from the 44 local government councils of the state while the state government donated N1 million, even as Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje made a personal donation of N100, 000 to the fund. 

The state branch of Indigenous Contractors Association, through its chairman, Abduwa Maitangaran, donated N1.1. Million while five members of the governing council of Kano University of Science and Technology, donated N250, 000 besides a donation of N100, 000 from the university management.
 
In his speech during the occasion which took place at Africa House, Government House, Kano, Governor Ganduje called on Nigerians to appreciate the contributions of the gallant Nigerian soldiers who died or were injured, through donations for the welfare of their families, especially widows and children.

He described the soldiers as courageous men who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of the nation and for peace to reign in the country and other parts of the world.

Earlier, the state Commissioner of Information, Comrade Muhammad Garba stressed the need for Nigerians to continue to acknowledge and show appreciation not only for what the fallen heroes did in the past but also to assure those soldiers in active service that their efforts would not be in vain.

On his part, the state branch Chairman of Nigerian Legion, Alh. Abdullahi Ahmad Bagobiri requested the state government to complete their secretariat project and to provide them with a vehicle to ease their transportation problem.

Meanwhile, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has inaugurated the three Revenue Tribunals with a call on citizens of the state support the state government to improve its revenue base.

He stated that the government re-engineered the state Revenue Service to ensure that all revenues due to the government are properly collected from public organizations, corporate bodies and individuals, saying he is confident that the revenue tribunals to work without fear or favour going by the antecedents of the respective Magistrate Court judges heading them.

Chief Magistrate Husaini Rabi’u will head the Revenue Tribunal at Audu Bako Secretariat, Magistrate Muhammad Idris is to the chair the Tribunal at Zungeru road while Hassan Ahmed is to head the Tribunal at Nomansland all in the state capital.
