Kano
state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Gandaje has commissioned a Basic
Health Centre, built and furnished at the cost of N37 million at Kawaji
in Nassarawa local government area of the state.
Commissioning
the project today (Tuesday), Dr Ganduje described it “as a very good
step towards consolidating government’s effort towards increasing
citizens’ access to affordable health care services”.
“Besides
improving primary health care services that support pregnant women and
children, more drugs and facilities would be provided in these centers”,
the governor assured.
In
this connection, he promised that the state government would provide a
scanning machine at the commissioned health centre to facilitate
appropriate diagnoses, urging residents of Kawaji and its environs to
patronize the health center for their own good.
The
governor commended the chairman, Nassarawa local government council,
Alh. Lamin Sani for embarking on the project, which he noted, would
improve the living standard of the local community. He urged other
council chairmen in Kano to emulate the shining example.
Earlier,
chairman of the council, Alh. Lamin Sani said that the health facility
gulped N27 million, adding that N10 million was used to provide
equipment and other finishings.
In
another development, Gov. Ganduje has inspected the ongoing Murtala
Muhammed way Flyover, pledging to continue paying the contractor
gradually until the work is completed as scheduled.
The
governor who was conducted round some the project by the State
Commissioner of Works, Alh. Haruna Shehu Lambu said the quality of the
project was appreciable.
He,
however, urged the contractor and road users plying the route to be
extra careful in order to minimize the risk of accidents.
