... Seeks Assistance in Capacity Building
The Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Counter Terrorism Executive Directorate, Mr Weixiong Chen on October 15, 2015 paid a courtesy call on the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon E. Arase, fdc, NPM, in his office at the Force Headquarters.
The
visit which was at the instance of the National Security Adviser to the
Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria discussed amongst other
things the identification of technical assistance needs.
Receiving
Mr. Chen and his entourage, the IGP said what the Nigeria Police Force
need at present to combat terrorism is capacity building, International
Police Cooperation, Mechanism for coordination of operational activities
of all law enforcement agencies with a counter-terrorism mandate and
institutionalization of mechanism.
Responding,
Mr Weixiong Chen said he was in the office of the IGP to identify
specific needs of the Nigeria Police Force with a view to channeling it
to the United Nations.
Thanking
Mr. Chen for the honour of visiting the Nigeria Police Force, IGP
Solomon Arase said partnership with international organizations such as
the United Nations is a welcome development in the fight against
terrorism.
