Liverpool 0-3 West Ham United: Hammers stun Reds at Anfield in fiery encounter

  • Liverpool lose for first time this season
  • Coutinho sent off in second half
  • Lanzini scores first goal for West Ham
  • Hammers hadn’t won consecutive PL away game since 2007
The year was 1963 and the Beatles were top of the charts with “She Loves You” in the UK. That was the last time West Ham won at Anfield and 43 attempts later they had another victory thanks to goals from Manuel Lanzini, Mark Noble (who was sent off late on) and Diafra Sakho on Saturday.
With the win West Ham move up to seventh on six points, while 10-man Liverpool — who had Philippe Coutinho sent off in the second half — suffered their first defeat of the season and are in sixth on seven points.

With less than three minutes on the clock West Ham took the lead as on-loan Argentine attacker Lanzini tapped home at the back post at the Kop end to stun Anfield into silence.

On the half hour mark the Hammers doubled their lead as a mistake from Dejan Lovren at the back let West Ham break and Noble finished coolly for his second goal in as many games. 2-0 to the visitors at Anfield and the Hammers were in dreamland.
