President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the
Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Sanusi Ado
Bayero, in what appears a reversal of his predecessor’s action.
The termination of Mr. Bayero’s appointment is with immediate effect,
a statement by Femi Adesina, the special adviser on media and publicity
to the President, said.
“He is to hand over the management of the NPA and all government
property in his possession to Habibu Abdullahi who has been reinstated
as Managing Director of the NPA by President Buhari,” Mr. Adesina said.
“President Buhari wishes Mr. Bayero well in his future endeavours,” the statement added.
Mr. Bayero’s was among former President Goodluck Jonathan last-minutes appointments. He was appointed 29 April, 2015.
No reason was given for Mr. Abdullahi’s removal at the time.
The Ahmed Joda led transition panel had in its reports asked President Buhari t reverse all the 11th hours appointments made by his predecessor in office, President Goodluck Jonathan.
