President
Muhammadu Buhari has decorated the new service chiefs with their new
ranks with a charge to map out strategies to defeat Boko Haram in three
months’ time.
Buhari
was assisted by the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo and the service
chiefs’ wives to decorate them with their new ranks.
The service chiefs were appointed on July 13, 2015 with the senate confirming their appointments on August 4.
Buhari also told them that they must be accountable for all men and equipment under their commands.
Those decorated on Thursday at the Presidential Villa are Major-General Abayomi Olonishakin who is now General (Chief of Defence Staff), Major-General now Lt Gen T.Y. Buratai (Chief of Army Staff), Rear Admiral now Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (Chief of Naval Staff) and Air Vice Marshal Sadique Abubakaris (Chief of Air Staff) is promoted to the rank of Air Marshal.

Speaking
on behalf of the service chiefs, Olonishakin promised President Buhari
and all Nigerians that they would not let them down.He promised to carry
out the three months presidential order.
