Mark 4:37 Now a great windstorm developed and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was nearly swamped. 38 But he was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. They woke him up and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are about to die?” 39 So he got up and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Be quiet! Calm down!” Then the wind stopped, and it was dead calm. 40 And he said to them, “Why are you cowardly? Do you still not have faith?” 41 They were overwhelmed by fear and said to one another, “Who then is this? Even the wind and sea obey him!”
I know you are familiar with the above passage very well yet I want you to read it at least once more.
Lessons from the passage:
1. The fact that you are in a storm or facing a big challenge does not mean God is far away from you or that you are sinful (however, if there is any sin in ur life, confess it and receive forgiveness now). Jesus was in the boat with the Disciples yet the storm came calling.
2. Your action or reaction amidst of storm expose the depth of your faith in God. The disciples were running helter-skelter while Master Jesus was asleep! I remember Apostle Peter too was asleep in prison with death sentence hanging on him! What a daring and violent faith!
3. Know whom you run to when your faith is failing you. Ideally, God has deposited what you need to calm the storm before it rises but if you failed to confront the storm, run back to Jesus.
4. Jesus will never allow any storm to consume you if you bring Him into the situation.
5. Until you keep your peace, the raging of the storm continues.
BE QUIET is for you while CALM DOWN is to the raging storm.
GO AND OVERCOME EVERY STORM AHEAD OF YOU IN JESUS NAME.
