American human rights activist, Jesse Jackson. The Nigerian pop singer
took a photograph with the American icon recently.
Jesse Jackson is an American civil rights activist, Baptist minister,
and politician. He was a candidate for the Democratic presidential
nomination in 1984 and 1988 and served as a shadow U.S. Senator for the
District of Columbia from 1991 to 1997.Wizkid has been enjoying international fame for some time now collaborating with top US artistes like Drake and Chris Brown.

The name DJ Obi will go down in the
history books as the dogged Nigerian DJ who broke an existing Guinness
World record and many would remember him for laying a precedence with
his outstanding feat.
The Syndik8 Records’ official DJ, who has
now deejayed for 8 straight days without sleep, is a man with a legacy
to carry on and a dream that only those with the strongest of minds can
fathom.
Here are 10 things you need to know about him:
1. DJ Obi, real name Obi Ajuonuma, is the
son of the late Dr. Levi Chibuike Ajuonuma, a renowned media
professional who died on board the ill-fated Dana air craft that crashed
in 2012. Ajuonuma hosted the popular Saturday night programme, ‘Open
House Party’ on Ray Power FM for years and generated quite a following
with it.
2. Obi’s dad was also the host and
executive producer of the ‘The Sunday Show’, ‘Levi Ajuonoma live’ and
‘Showtime’ on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and other top
stations. He was also a former Group General Manager, Public Affairs
Division of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.
3. DJ Obi has been honing his craft for
eight good years. During this time, he clinched the Nigerian
Entertainment Award (NEA) for “World Best DJ” in 2011.
4. The talented disc jokey has worked
with international acts like Lupe Fiasco as well as local A-listers like
Naeto C, Banky W, Lynxxx, 2Face and more.
5. According to him, Sean ‘P. Diddy’
Combs is a big inspiration to him and a man he looks up to. He has also
had the privilege of meeting Diddy in person on a number of occasions.
6. The former world record holder for the
longest marathon club DJ-ing in the world is Polish DJ, Norbert Selmaj
also known as Norberto Loco. He played for 200 hours at the Underground
temple bar in Dublin, Ireland from 19 to 27 November 2014. Obi has since
shattered this record.
7. Even though Obi has broken a
critically acclaimed world record, he will not receive any financial
compensation for his effort but will have his name listed in the 2016
Guinness Book of World Records document.

DJ Obi whose real name is Obi Ajuonuma
has officially broken the Guinness World record for the Longest DJ Set.
He achieved this feat today Friday, July 1, 2016 at exactly 7:30 am, at
the Sao Café, Lekki PhaseI.
He has now beaten the current world record of 200 hours/8 days which was set in Dublin, Ireland in 2014.
Obi, who has been on the ‘wheels of
steel’ for eight straight days and over eighth hours without sleep is
still on his quest.He hopes to round off his attempt by hitting the 10
day mark and deejaying for 240 hours straight.

Mavin Records singer, Di’ja has revealed that she and her husband, Rotimi have welcomed a baby boy into their family.
The Awww crooner made this known via an
animation video shared on her Instagram page to finally let the cat out
of the bag concerning her marriage, pregnancy and birth.
She also confirmed that she has returned to Lagos while thanking family and friends for all the love and support.

Recall that in December last year, there
were unconfirmed reports that Di’Ja, real name Hadiza Blell, got married
to her Abuja-based lover in Kaduna.
According to Bishop Ikedi, security at
the venue was heightened and guests were banned from using cameras. This
was why news of the wedding did not spread like wild fire. The wedding
was allegedly held in Kaduna, where Di’ja’s mother is from. Her father
however, is a native of Sierra Leone. Unconfirmed sources revealed that
Di’Ja was already pregnant at the time and that was what spurred the
hasty marriage.

The controversial rift between COSON
chairman, Tony Okoroji and veteran singer Onyeka Onwenu attained a new
peak today as Onwenu was mandated by a Lagos a High court to publicly
apologize to the COSON boss and pay five million Naira in damages.
A Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja on
Thursday, June 30, 2016 ordered Onyeka Onwenu to pay the sum of five
million naira as damages for defamation of character to Chief Tony
Okoroji, former President of PMAN and Chairman, Copyright Society of
Nigeria (COSON).
Delivering judgment in Suit No:
ID/935/12 filed in 2012, Hon Justice I. O. Akinkugbe (Mrs.) also ordered
Ms. Onwenu to tender an unreserved public apology to Chief Okoroji to
be published in Vanguard Newspapers and www.vanguardngr.com, the website of Vanguard Newspapers.
The war between Okoroji and Onyeka can be traced back to 2011 when
Okoroji went to court to challenge the publication of an article in the Vanguard newspaper edition of October 14, 2011 which he considered a deliberate attempt to malign or defame him.
According to the COSON chair, the article claiming he diverted N3m
donated by the Cross Rivers State Government towards the final burial of
Christy Essien Igbokwe, is ‘unjustified, unwarranted, malicious,
wicked, reckless and libellous.’
The case was thrown out by a Lagos State High Court. At the time, the presiding judge, Justice I.O. Kasali opined: ‘For
words to be defamatory of a party, the said words must have lowered
that party in the estimation of right-thinking members of the public and
there must be evidence of this from a person whose views of that person
have been so adversely affected’.
