Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s former
wife, Pastor Anita has penned a new article titled ”Soul winning” in
which she admonishes people to beware of fake men of God. Many are
wondering if she used this as an opportunity to take subtle shots at her
estranged ex-husband.
Read below:
When
people talk about winning souls these days, I feel absolutely concerned
for the so-called souls. It looks to me like a lion on a breakfast
mission, in search for his hunt; he hides behind the grass for an unwise
lamb that would wander away from the herd in search of fresh grass.
This will be an easy catch and good feast for the lion’s plate.
When I hear these people talk about winning souls, I feel sorry for the souls who have no idea of what they are getting into. It sometimes sounds to me like blood-thirsty people desperate to count the number of innocent, ignorant people who will give their blood to be sucked. These souls are classified, as the needy, can undoubtedly be gullible in their search for solutions and wanting to identify or belong to a community. These souls are caught when they are most vulnerable maybe they have lost a loved one, in a bad relationship with their parents or family, in need of healing or desperate for a change. At this point they will give anything and do anything without a second thought.
When caught by the wrong
hands, they will start running in a wheel. Initially, the souls will be
treated with some measure of care, so they do not detach. This will be
short lived to prepare them to be trained as unconscious servants. Once
the attachment is built, they would start attending endless meetings
till they begin to be unavailable for their loved ones and disassociate
from their families over time.
They are tied up with daily and weekly responsibilities but if
you look closely, their main leader is seating in a place of convenience
by handling brief monthly meetings (not weekly) or occasional
gatherings. These souls will eventually give their energy away and with time they begin to feel tired, unhappy, sick, financially drained and depleted. Unknown to them, this new community and friends may be superficial. The souls might observe that sweet and bitter method of sucking their blood has gradually robbed them of their self worth. They might realize they have given their energy to somebody else and they are now hanging in the spider’s web. When I hear about souls, I have sympathy for those who give their blood to be sucked. They are simply prey to be used as objects in some people’s game. Incidentally, some of these souls have become wiser in seeking the opportunity to reap the reaper in his own game, like the buffalo who challenges the tiger.
An aggressive soul winner is
hungry like a hunter; he goes with all manner of tools and uses
different technique to capture his prey.
Soul winning alone will not take you to heaven; you win a soul by
living the God life and your personal interest in bringing somebody to
the knowledge of Christ. You have to be in a good frame of mind first,
not under fear or compulsion that if you do not win souls you will go to
hell. There should be no ulterior motives like getting the soul’s money
eventually, you want a position or seeking to be rewarded with treats
or awards. There are people who reach out to others daily not for any
earthly reward or to direct the souls to their own churches, for
benefits or for any selfish reason. These people recommend and make
available other authors, ministers and local assemblies for the interest
of the soul alone. An aggressive soul winner is like a fisherman who uses a net. This method of fishing is solely for material or commercial purposes. On the other hand a fish can also be caught by using a fishing rod with baits or lures impaled on the hooks to entice any fish that venture near to bite off the attractive bait. Unfortunately, if caught by a commercial fisherman the fish is not going anywhere after all that effort, it must be eaten. However, if caught by a hobbyist, he will admire the fish and put it back where it belongs, in its natural habitat. Thank God for regulatory organizations helping to stop brutal killings of animals whether on land or sea. Every man should learn to take care of himself first. He should learn to use his initiative and study for himself otherwise he might become somebody’s big catch or ‘meat’. At that point he would have no one to blame. Beyoncé and Jay Z have been named as Forbes’ highest-paid celebrity couple in 2016. They came in top position with combined earnings accumulating to about $107.5 million this past year, according to Forbes’ Celebrity 100 list. However, individually, Beyoncé ranked no. 34 on Forbes’ 2016 list with $54 million, while Jay Z came in at no. 36 with $53.5 million. They both benefited from Beyoncé’s sixth No. 1 album, Lemonade, which debuted exclusively on Jay Z’s Tidal streaming service (his wife and several other Celebrity 100 members are co-owners). But Beyoncé was able to put herself in the lead of her husband in terms of annual earnings by playing 19 shows in the past one year. “I’ve never met anyone that works harder than me in my industry,” the singer was noted to Forbes. According to Forbes, Jay Z continues to rein in massive cash from his Armand de Brignac champagne, D’Ussé cognac and entertainment company Roc Nation. The multifaceted organization includes a record label, artist management and a sports agency that represents the likes of Kevin Durant and Robinson Cano. Top Nollywood producer and Abuja International Film Festival founder, Fidelis Duker, in a recent chat with Vanguard, talked about how he instructed his wife, then girlfriend, to either get pregnant or forget the idea of marriage. According to him, this stemmed from a vow he made that he would automatically marry any woman that gets pregnant for him. He stayed true to this promise as he tied the knot with his wife, Temitope, at a very young age paying deaf eyes to those around him who did not approve of his decision. Today, he says he is enjoying the benefits of early marriage as their children are all grown up. Their first daughter will be 20 in another two years when their union will be twenty years strong. In the interview, Duker shared to Vanguard, how he weathered the storm of getting his wife pregnant before marriage, encountering difficulties as a married couple and how he was able to overcome them. Here are excerpts from the interview: Growing up with his wife after meeting her at a young age. I grew up with her. And she’s complaining now that she never enjoyed her young age. That’s why she can’t wait to see her children finish their education so that those things she missed as a young girl, she wants to enjoy them now. She never had the opportunity to mingle with people as she went into marriage very early. The only friend my wife knew as a young girl then was me. It is very rare to see somebody who married at a very young age to keep the marriage. Even her friends then were very scared when we first got married. Fear of losing her It wasn’t really the fear of losing her to another man that made me to marry her at that young age. Sincerely, while growing up, I made two vows, one, that I would never live outside the shores of the country no matter the opportunity and, second, any woman that got pregnant for me would automatically become my wife; even if she was not be ready to marry me, I would insist on marrying her. So, we courted for about a year and a half before she took in for me. Most of my friends who were not thinking of going into marriage then thought something was wrong with me. When I made the vow that any woman I would date and later get pregnant for me would become my wife, I didn’t want to break the vow, even though I was dating other girls. At that time, I was a bit comfortable as I had started making films. I felt the only thing left for me was to get married. In fact, it was my car that I used on my wedding day. The economic situation was a bit conducive at that time in 1998. I was less than 30 years and you can imagine the kind of risk I took. But I was ready to go into marriage. I think I became matured very early. When my friends and colleagues in the industry were not ready to go into marriage, I took the bull by the horn. I only worked for somebody in a computer firm for six months in my entire life. Support from his parents I think my dad was pretending, but my mum supported me. When I told her that my wife was pregnant for me, my mum asked me if I really wanted to marry her? I answered in the affirmative. Unfortunately, my mum died one or two years after our marriage. For my dad, he was indifferent as he never really encouraged me. He wasn’t pleased with my decision even though he didn’t make it known to me. Also, my father in-law never wanted the marriage because my wife is the only child of her parents. And she was still in school then. But like my mum, her mum also stood by her and ensured that she didn’t abort the baby. Challenges of early marriage Our first four years in marriage was one of the toughest part of my entire life. After our wedding, we lost our apartment, and my car was damaged beyond repairs by one of my friends who had an accident with it. My office was the only thing I had left. But the irony of it is that nobody knew what my wife and I were passing. I was practically living in my office with my wife. Early in the morning, we would take our bath before staff would resume duties, and after work, we would stay back. Sometimes, we would stay with my friend who was then living in Yaba. While we were passing through the hard times, my wife didn’t give up on me, neither did my friends know our predicaments. For eight months, we were homeless. Most of my friends will be shocked to hear this for the first time. Finally, we rented an apartment in Ijaye, on the outskirts of Lagos, and moved into the house. But all this while, my wife stood by me and never regretted her decision to marry me. Hurting his wife I have done a lot of things that hurt her. Apart from cheating on your wife, there are other things you can do to hurt her. Your wife might expect a gift from you on her birthday, and you forget to buy her a gift year after year. Definitely she will feel hurt. But one thing I like about hurting my wife is that she’s quick to forgive and forget. She’s my best friend and my everything.
