…Declares
Support For RSG Withdrawal Of Suit Against Assoc. Of Private General Medical
Practitioners
The
Chairman, Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bro Felix
Obuah, has lauded what he describes as unprecedented sensitivity of the State Government
to the health needs and healthcare delivery efforts by Governor Nyesom Wike in
offering accessible loans to operators of private hospitals in the State.
The
PDP Chairman expresses total satisfaction with the initiative, saying it is a
deliberate scheme to enhance quality healthcare across the State as well as a
befitting financial intervention and assistance to the private hospitals as it
would go a long way in improving hospitals’ facilities, healthcare delivery system
as well as operational environment.
Bro
Obuah says Gov Wike’s gesture and commitment to health services delivery across
the State is a boost for the Party and a fulfillment of the Gov’s
electioneering campaign promises made during interaction with the medical
doctors before his election.
The
PDP Chairman specifically commends the Governor for not restricting beneficiaries
of the private Hospitals Loans scheme to only those operating in the urban
areas but included all those located in the rural areas and the hinterland
across the State, explaining that going by the loan’s scheme design, over 500
health facilities are expected to benefit from the programme, which is
exceptional and quite commendable.
More
gratifying, Obuah observes, is the fact that Rivers State government would act
as guarantor for all benefitting potential private hospitals, as well as paying
the interest on the loans on behalf of the operators of such private hospitals
across the State.
He
believes that with the latest interventionist action of the Rivers State
government under Governor Wike in the health sector, the dearth in facilities,
lack of commitment and general breakdown in healthcare delivery system,
particularly in the private health institutions, would be a thing of the past.
Bro
Obuah therefore, urges all beneficiaries of the loan to truly apply it
appropriately so that their patients and the general public will benefit from
such laudable government gesture.
Similarly,
the State PDP Chairman, Bro Obuah has also described the decision of Gov Wike
to withdraw the case instituted by the Rivers State Ministry of Environment under
Rotimi Amaechi administration against the Association of Private General
Medical Practitioners as development-driven.
Bro
Obuah notes that all these actions of government are geared towards giving the
people sense of belonging and assurances of a Governor that feels and cares
about the plight of the masses.
He
reiterates the continued support of the PDP to all people or development-
oriented programmes and policies of Governor Wike administration in the State, assuring
that the positive development efforts of the PDP government in the State so far
are just a tip of the iceberg while urging medical practitioners in the State
to continue to support the administration of Governor Wike.
