Erstwhile Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees, BoT, Chief Tony Anenih has accused the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole of marginalising some section of the state.
Speaking at the Edo Central PDP governorship flag off at Okpujie Primary School, Uromi, the Edo State-born politician alleged that Oshiomole was plotting to obliterate the Esan nation ahead of the September governorship election in the state.
The former PDP BoT Chairman, however, vowed that the Esan people would resist the alleged plot and vote out the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the coming election.
Anenih recalled that Oshiomhole at the start of his administration refused to pay the counterpart fund of N300m needed to complete the Ugbalo Waterworks after he had made the Federal government commit the sum of N1.2 billion to the project.
“Today, there is no water Esanland. I pleaded with the president then to give us water, and he awarded a contract of N1.2 billion for Ugbalo Waterworks. Oshiomhole was asked to pay the counterpart fund of about N300 million. Oshiomhole, up till today has refused to provide the money. That is why the water scheme has not been completed. He does not want us (Esans) to have water.
“Esan race is being extinguished by Oshiomhole, but we will not allow it; we will resist it,” he said.
