Kano
state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has commiserated with
traders in Singer market in the state capital over the fire that razed a
section of the market in the early hours of Thursday.
The
governor described the incident as very tragic considering the loss
incurred and the fact that many traders are victims because the market
hosts traders not just from across Nigeria but also other parts of West
Africa.
He
assured that the state government would collate statistics of affected
persons and property to facilitate assistance to them and prayed
Almighty Allah to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
Governor
Ganduje also appealed to the National Emergency Management Agency,
NEMA, to come to the aid of the affected traders in view of the current
economic situation in the country.
He
then appealed to the traders to be more cautious when handling
inflammables and electrical appliances as recklessness in making use of
such items can lead to infernos.
