The following is a list of highest paid chief executive officers (CEOS) in Nigeria as at 2016.

1 GT Bank: Segun Agbaje – 204.2 million

2 Union Bank: Emeka Emuwa – 166.0 million

3 UBA Bank: Kennedy Uzoka – 119.0 million

4 Fidelity Bank: Nnamdi Okonkwo – 102.0 million

5 Zenith Bank: Peter Amangbo –  88.0 million

6 Access Bank: Herbert Wigwe – 85.2 million

7 FCMB: Ladi Balogun – 81.0 million

8 Stanbic IBTC: Sola David-Borha – 78.0 million

9 Diamond Bank: Uzoma Edozie – 25.2 million

According to Nairametrics;
GTBank, the most profitable bank pays its CEO the highest. GTBank is miles ahead of its peers by several metrics, taking over 20% more than the next highest paid CEO. Although, in dollar terms, this is just under $700,000 [depending on which CBN window Mr Agbaje is able to access].
Second place is Emeka Emuwa Union Bank (after spending 25 years in Citibank), understandably so – a high premium would have been required to attract him from his previous life at Citibank to lead the transformation of UBN after the near collapse in 2009.
For UBA, the former CEO retired in July 2016 so it’s uncertain if that amount is annualized for Kennedy or the prorated amount from July to December. There’s a similar dilemma with Stanbic IBTC, if the highest paid is for Yinka Sanni (MD Stanbic IBTC Bank) or Sola Borha, but for the sake of this article, we’d stick with Sola Borha.
The most interesting is Diamond Bank. His salary is what a comparable assistant- or deputy- general manager earns at other banks.
Side note: First Bank is not included in this because its audited financial are unavailable at the time of this report. Rough guess, it’s CEO earns somewhere north of the Union Bank amount, especially considering he was head hunted from Africa Finance Corporation where his compensation was most likely in denominated in USD.

Founder and presenter of Inside Out, Agatha Nwakalor Amata is set to step aside as host of her popular TV show Inside-Out with Agatha, Nigeria’s longest running independent television talk show as it clocks 20 this year.
Launched in 1997, ‘Inside Out With Agatha’ became a success with the help of Nollywood legends like Kingsley Ogoro, Tade Ogidan, Chico Ejiro and Fred Amata who oversaw the first edition of the show. Agatha, who was then married to Fred Amata, revealed that in the beginning she worked without a script, simply told stories of people who wanted to share them on national TV, and soon, the show became a household name.
But the icon is set to step aside for a new face, and to achieve this, she has kicked off The Search, calling for interested people to come audition for the spot.
She said, “I felt it was time to step down for the younger generation, and I didn’t want to be in their way, 20 years is a long time, its time to retire for a younger one with passion to taking over, trust me when I say inside out is not about Agatha, but about passion and the people.”
The selection for a new face is being handled like a proper reality TV show and will see the top 20 candidates out of the 500 who applied, stay in a house for 6 weeks. They will be assigned tasks, evictions will be made, before a winner finally emerges.
Agatha will wrap so productions on 4th of August, 2017, and then she will spend the next 2 years, grooming the winner of The Search, before eventually stepping away from the screen.

Betty Irabor, a Nigerian columnist, philanthropist, writer, publisher and founder of Genevieve magazine took to her Instagram to recount her inspiring journey into the world of publishing.
She wrote:
After my graduation and NYSC, all I wanted was a job, I got one as a PRO when the job description included buying food for the boss and doing his bidding.
And then one day on an outing with Soni at the United States Information service Broad Street I met Dr Doyin Abiola the Editor In Chief of the Concord Press…everyone knew her as the Iron Lady.
At Soni’s insistence, I walked up to her and said; ” Good afternoon Ma, I would like to work as a journalist in Concord Ma”. I was sooo nervous!. I was 26 and very shy. ” Are you a journalist?”. She asked icily. ” No Ma” I answered, already freaking out. “But I am a good writer, I am an English graduate” I responded.
“Sorry, we prefer journalists” she said as she walked away, leaving me staring down at my feet. “How callous, how mean, wicked woman. They were right abt her, I thought to myself…
Then for some reasons, she looked back and saw me rooted at the same spot.. I hadn’t moved from the spot where we had that conversation..I was still trying to recover from the “Isho”.
“What’s your name again?” she suddenly shouted out. “Betty Belo- Osagie Ma”. Ok, come in on Tuesday and ask to see the Editor, Yakubu Mohammed.
I saw Alhaji Yakubu on Tuesday and resumed work the next day as a feature writer. About a year later I made it to the cover of the news paper among those who were promoted… I was promoted to the position of an Asst Features Editor.. Thus began my accidental journey into journalism.
I left Concord after 5 years and went into the corporate world…and one day ;many many years later I became a publisher…The publisher of Genevieve Magazine.. I didn’t over think it, I simply closed my eyes and jumped… even with only 5 years industry experience.
I had a template in my heart and I learnt to publish on the job surrounded by the very best in the industry and armed with a burning passion and desire to travel on that road less travelled….Guess who my biggest Cheer Leader Is.. Dr Doyin Abiola.
It hasn’t been an easy ride but my faith is bigger than my fear…So Should yours my dear!!

Last weekend, social media went buzzing with news of a reported beef between Davido and Iceprince at an event organised by Quilox boss, Shina Peller.
While Davido and Ice Prince have declined to comment on the issue, LIB was able to get an exclusive chat with Shina Peller, the event organiser who narrated how it all went down.
He said:
Ok here’s what really happened, my arrangement for the concert was to have a tour bus, so there was no time when anyone had a saloon car. It was a tour bus which everybody was in including myself, my artistes, Lil Kesh, CDQ and everyone just so we are all together to have fun but  along the line i found out that Davido had some friends in Warri.’

‘Davido was in the same bus with us from the airport to the hotel, he used the same bus from the hotel to Quest FM where we went for an interview before the show. It was at Quest FM his friends came to pick him with a white G-Wagon, I don’t even know the owner of the G-Wagon. So he was in his friend’s G-Wagon from the radio station to the event venue so it wasn’t an issue at all’.’
He was also asked about the issue of performance hierarchy that we learnt got Ice Prince angry because he performed before Lil Kesh.
He said:
now let me shock you, my artiste ‘Base One’ even performed after Lil kesh, so there was no superiority or hierarchy involved, I just wanted it to be a random event flow.
The event even had two of my waiters at Quilox that sings I got them to perform at the show and we’ll still do 3 more of the event before the year runs out’.
He also commented on the issue of both artiste leaving delta State airport in different lounges because of the beef,
‘when we were coming back to Lagos, It was Ice Prince that got to be at the VIP lounge, myself, Davido, Lil Kesh and others where outside in a shed with just a standing fan. really it’s all one family everything is resolved now.
The only thing that got Davido upset is the fact that he felt Ice Prince was being disrespectful to me not even to him because even Davido didn’t complain about any of the logistics issue it was Ice Prince that complained a little that’s all’.
