min
A mild drama played out on Monday as civil servants at the Federal Ministry of Finance shut down the headquarters of the Ministry in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja. The workers alleged that since the assumption of office of the Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, things had gone completely bad.
Describing the Ministry as being in a state of poor welfare, the workers in their hundreds expressed disappointment over the non-payment of the entitlements due to them.
They locked all the entrances to the ministry and prevented vehicles and other visitors from gaining access to the premises, insisting that except their demands were met, they would not stop the protest.
The workers displayed placards bearing: “Things have not been going on well in the Ministry.
“We demand to know what is going on in the Ministry.
“Overtime, we have not been paid our entitlements, allowances, training and other welfare packages.
“A lot of people in this ministry are not happy because of poor staff welfare condition.”
