Governor
Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has commended the out-going
Commissioner of Police in the state, Alhaji Muhammad Musa Katsina for
his doggedness in maintaining law and order.
He
said Alhaji Katsina, who was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant
Inspector General of Police, showed exceptional dedication in tackling
insurgency and countering the activities of suspected terrorists in the
state, during a stay in Kano.
The
governor, who spoke while receiving the out-going Commissioner who paid
him a farewell visit, was also happy that Alhaji Katsina was able to
initiate a blueprint for tackling kidnapping, which he described as very
successful.
“I
am pleased to say that you came, you saw and you conquered because you
worked very hard to check the activities of insurgents and criminals in
the state”, the governor stated.
Governor
Ganduje asserted that the state would not forget the out-going CP for
his unrelenting efforts to curb cattle rustling, drug trafficking and
other vices, pointing out that “I decided to nickname him Field Marshall
in view of his exploits at Falgore forest”.
He
therefore, urged the in-coming Commissioner of Police to continue form
where his predecessor left, saying it is encouraging to know that most
of the senior Police officers that assisted his predecessor to succeed
are still working in the state Police Command.
In
his remarks, earlier, Alhaji Muhammad Musa Katsina said the
encouragement he received from the governor enabled him to achieve.
“Never have I received such felicitation and goodwill in the past 30
years of my career, as I received from the government and people of Kano
state” he stated.
He
hoped other state governors will emulate Governor Ganduje, to enable
the Police render efficient services to Nigerians living in their
respective states.
