Few days ago it was reported that popular Congolese musician Papa Wemba died after collapsing on stage during a performance in Ivory Coast. It was reported that the king of Rumba suffered an attack while performing at Festival des Musiques Urbaines d’Anoumabo (FEMUA) and due to lack of emergency health service at the venue of the concert, he died before he was rushed to the hospital. In reaction to the tragic event, Collins Enebeli, father of music producer, Don Jazzy, took to Facebook to share his thoughts and advise on the need to provide healthcare service at concert venues. Read what he posted on his Facebook page below “The sad news of the death of Papa Wemba is a wake up call for artists and their managers to see reason why promoters and event organisers need the services of healthcare service providers for artists while on engagement for their events to avoid preventable fatalities as this. Most artists due to their busy schedules are known not to be paying enough attention to their health and listening to their bodies which may have been under pressure and stretched to breaking point without them knowing it. Artiste managers need to insist that the services of a trained health personnel who specializes in handling celebrities is factored into their performance contract to ensure that artists are well monitored and looked after when on professional engagement anywhere in the world. |

Popular singer and entertainer, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, also known as D’banj, says his wedding will be a quiet one, that nobody would be aware of it. He also stated that marriage would not make him put an end to his music career. In an interview with the Punch, he said, “I would tell you the truth, I am not married but if I am, nobody would hear about it. Besides, who says I am not married? “It is going to be a very quiet wedding because I am tired of people asking me that question. It is my personal life and it is not going to change my music or brand. “I am not going to get married just because people want me to, neither would I do it just to enter another phase of my life just like some of my colleagues have done. They make it seem as if once you are married you have retired. But that should not be the case. “Marriage would not change anything about me and whenever it happens, nobody would hear about it, there would only be speculations. My wife would not be seeking for fame because the one I have is already enough for all my family members. “When I get married, it would be a very quiet one. Who knows, it might have already happened,” the Koko master added. It would be recalled that the ‘Emergency’ crooner few days ago, said he was under pressure to get married. The 36-year-old singer-songwriter recently told South African radio host, that his mother only cared about his getting married and not exactly his success. He said, “My mother is putting so much pressure on me to get married. “She’s told me, listen! ‘I don’t care about your success. Maybe it’s this success that’s making you not get married.” |
