---Urges Govt. -Workers Harmonious
Relationship In Rivers
As workers
across the country mark this year’s Workers
Day on Sunday, May 1, 2016 the Chairman, Rivers State chapter of the
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bro. Felix Obuah joins other well meaning
citizens to congratulate the Nigerian workers, describing them as pillars on
which any successful administration stands.
Bro. Obuah says
considering the prevailing hash economic situation in the country, the Nigerian
workers have been made to suffer undesirable and avoidable pains and hardship
but have remained faithful and spirited in the discharge of their services at their
various points of call and duty posts.
These are
exceptional qualities exhibited by the Nigerian workers that are commendable,
Obuah emphasized, adding that an average Nigerian worker is broadminded and
hard-working, with high perseverance disposition and as well, dedicated to duty
and responsibilities.
This year’s
celebration however comes with some challenges in view of the seeming economic
dislocation in the country following the absence of national budget, lack of
definite economic policy framework by the government at the centre, budgetary
irregularities and inability of the Federal Executive Council and the National
Assembly to have a common ground, regarding the 2016 budget which is yet to be
passed even at about half of the year.
This development
therefore requires our teeming civil servants and indeed all Nigerians to be
more courageous and patriotic to be able to contend with this avoidable
economic meltdown apparently occasioned by lack of focus and seeming
inexperience as well as political maneuvering by drivers of the nation’s
economic policies.
The PDP
sympathized with the workers and indeed, all Nigerians over the pains of having
no petroleum products available, lack of constant electricity power supply,
high and skyrocketed cost of commodities, high transport fares, and delay in
the payment of salaries of federal civil servants, as well as victimization and
undue termination of appointment of innocent workers in federal parastals,
ministries and agencies.
While we commend
the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, for doing everything possible to
put smiles on the faces of all workers in the State, particularly in the area
of regular payment of monthly salaries and pensions, timely promotion of
workers and resuscitation of ailing public facilities and provision of basic
amenities in the State, the Party urges the workers to continue to support and
cooperate with the government in the State, and to be more proactive in the
discharge of their duties in reciprocation of the good works of the governor in
the State.
The PDP Chairman
reassures the workers that the Governor will not fail in the delivery of all
promises made to them, wishing all workers in the State a successful
celebration.
I, once again,
congratulate you all.
Signed:
