Magnus Abe, the
All Progressives Congress, APC candidate in the March 19 National re-run
election for Rivers South-East Senatorial district may have either become too
aggressive or lost sense of judgment due to his desperation for power.
The office of
the Chairman of the State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bro
Felix Obuah came up with this in response to Mr Magnus Abe’s dismal criticism
of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up by the Rivers State Government to probe
the violence that characterized the March 19 re-run election in parts of the
State.
Also berating
the former Senator for his unpatriotic comments on the Commission of Inquiry,
the State PDP in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Party
Chairman on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam said for Magnus Abe to also blame
and wish the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to release and
announce the result of election in Tai Local Government Area, an election that
never took place sequel to its suspension by the INEC shows that he (Abe) is either bereft of ideas or may have
gone berserk.
The PDP feels
that Mr Magnus Abe as a lawyer, and a former Senator ought to know better the
electoral law and how government operates being once a Secretary to the State
Government.
We are shocked
at Mr. Abe’s utterances and have no order deduction than to say that he is
against the Judicial Commission of Inquiry because he hugely benefits from the
crisis and would do anything to scuttle any effort to restore peace, law and
order in the State, the PDP noted.
Bro Obuah also
recalled previous threats by Magnus Abe and his allies in the APC that there
would be no peace in the State as long as the Governor Wike administration
remains in office.
It’s therefore the
pursuit of that very unpatriotic agenda of making the State ungovernable, the
State PDP boss stated, that underlies Mr. Abe’s renewed instigation and casting
of aspersions on INEC who seems not to key into his satanic plot of releasing
result of Tai Local Government Area suspended election.
There is no
doubt that Gov Nyesom Wike remains the chief security officer of the State and
as the circumstance demands, has done the right thing and the needful to checkmate
the rate of crimes and violence in the State of which the setting up of the
Judicial Commission of Inquiry is one measure.
The essence of
all this is to restore peace in the State and to nip in the bud any
circumstance that can possibly lead to such violence that claimed the life of
the National youth corps member during the re-run elections.
It’s only the
architects and beneficiaries from violence and crisis situations that are
likely to stand against the effort by the State government and Magnus Abe has
just boldly admitted he is one of such people which is very unfortunate.
And on the
re-run election in Tai Local Government Area, just like any other area in
Ogoni, it’s only the ignorant and mischievous who will claim they were not
aware that INEC, based on complaints of hijacking of election materials and
fake result sheets, before and during accreditation had to suspend all the
elections in Ogoni area including Tai except Magnus Abe is confirming that he,
and his allies hijacked the election materials and went on to vote in Barry
Mpigi’s house which result he wants INEC to release and announce.
This is rather
laughable and speak volumes about the person of Mr. Abe and how desperate he
could be, the State PDP chairman, Bro Obuah lamented.
