INHUMAN TREATMENT OF MR. RAFIU BAMGBOSE,
AN ACCIDENT VICTIM OF DANGOTE CEMENT TRUCK IBESE, OGUN STATE
Mr. Rafiu Bamgbose is one of the numerous accident victims of the
Dangote Cement Trucks, Ibese Plant in Ibese, Egbado North Area of Ogun State.
On the 8th day of February, 2013, one Mr. Rafiu Bamgbose and one Idowu
Taofeek, were on a motorcycle at Egbo Junction, along Oja-Odan/Polytechnic
Papalanto Road in Ilaro, Ogun State. One of the trucks with Reg. No: DUT132XA
from the Company drove by one Musa Ishaya coming from opposite direction to Mr.
Rafiu Bamgbose who was riding on a motorcycle with the other person, were hit
by two of the said truck tyres that pulled off from the truck whilst the truck
was on a high speed. Mr. Rafiu Bamgbose was fatally wounded, it was through the
aid of the other motorists on the road who witnessed the accident that chased
the said truck and caught the driver before been handed over to the police at
Ilaro.
It was to the chagrin of everybody to the inhuman attitude of the
Dangote Cement Plc, Ibese Plant Management that despite police report on the
issue the company never deem it fit to see the victim of the accident - Mr.
Rafiu Bamgbose let alone take care of medical bills of the man who sustained
heavy and permanent injuries to his legs. In fact Mr. Rafiu Bamgbose since that
time till present moment has undergone several surgical operations on his legs.
In the year 2014, Mr. Rafiu Bamgbose caused his solicitors of Bayo
Omoniyi & Co 86, Leslie Road, Ilaro to write to the Company on the issue.
Several letters were written between 2014 to early 2016, but, to no avail.
Early this year a letter dated 12th day of February, 2016 was written to
the company on the issue, by the solicitors to Mr. Rafiu Bamgbose, on the
reception of this letter, the company denied seeing the earlier letters
written. It was at this point that the
company said is ready to accede to the demand of Mr. Rafiu Bamgbose as
contained in the letter dated 12th day of February, 2016, but, nothing was done
by the company for four months. It was on this ground that another letter dated
14th day of June titled “Re: Letter of demand” which was received and
acknowledged by the company on the 15th day of June 2016, it is disheartening
that almost four month ago after the letter dated 14th day of June had been
received by the company, the company has never deem it fit to make good their
promise toward a man whose cause of his plight is the negligence of the company
Mr. Rafiu Bamgbose is gradually dying every day as there is no more money to
undergo more surgery on his legs, the accident has permanently shut him out of
his business the only source of his income with which he used to maintained his
family.
It is on this ground we are appealing on behalf of Mr. Rafiu Bamgbose to
all well meaning Nigerians to appeal to the conscience of the Management of the
Dangote Cement to do the needful by making their promise good to Mr. Rafiu
Bamgbose. It is necessary for the company to nip in the bud the imminent danger
hovering over the life of Mr. Rafiu Bamgbose.
