REST AND FIND GOD’S GRACE-Joseph Prince

Luke 2:40
And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.
ribbon end

The verse says that the grace of God was upon Jesus. The Bible also says that where sin abounds, grace abounds much more. (Romans 5:20) And when you put the two together, you may find yourself asking, “If the grace of God was upon Jesus, does it mean that He sinned?”
No, Jesus did not sin. (2 Corinthians 5:21) So there must be another explanation as to why God’s grace was upon Jesus. There must be another explanation as to why someone can abound in God’s grace even when he has not sinned.
Let’s look at the word “grace” when it is first mentioned in the Bible. Genesis 6:8 says that “Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord”. Noah’s name means “rest”. So the verse is telling us that rest found grace. In other words, when you rest, you find grace!
So grace was upon Jesus because His life was a life of rest and trust in His Father. He said, “The Son can do nothing of Himself. He can do only what He sees His Father doing.” (John 5:19)
Likewise, grace comes upon you when you rest and trust God. If you have a wayward child, stop nagging at him and trust God to handle the problem. Say, “Jesus, I commit this boy into Your hands. I cannot control him. You can.” If you have a persistent pain in your body, bring it to the Lord. Say, “Jesus, I hand all my worries about this pain to You. You work on the pain.”
“Pastor Prince, what if nothing happens?”
Honestly, if after you have given the matter to Jesus and nothing happens, what can you do? If Jesus Himself can’t do anything about it, do you think you can? But praise God, once the problem is handed over to Jesus, He can and will do a perfect work of taking care of it for you!
So live a life of rest. Have this attitude and tell the Lord, “I can do nothing of myself. I just rest in You Lord and I trust You.” Beloved, what you will see is the grace of God upon you in every situation of your life!

I am Ready to Refund the N400m- Olisa Metuh

Why Our Client (Chief Olisa Metuh) is Offering To Refund The N400 million – Counsel

In the light of the circumstances regarding the case of our client, Chief Olisa Metuh with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), we want to explain the reasons for our client's proposal to refund the N400 million released to him by former President Goodluck Jonathan, and which was expended on a project approved by the ex-President on national issues relating to his Presidency and the Federal Government at that time.

1. We want to restate that at the time the money was released to him after his presentation to the ex-President, our client had no knowledge of the source, a fact that is now obvious from the evidence of the prosecution and defence witnesses. Our client had every cause to believe that the money was from the ex-President to whom he made presentation, received directives and rendered report and accounts accordingly.

2. When the matter first came up and Chief Metuh was invited to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) in December 2015, he requested to know the source of the money and expressed his readiness to make refunds if it was from government coffers, not minding that the money had been expended as directed by the former President. Officials at ONSA never got back to him as they promised, until his arrest by the EFCC in January 2016.

3. It was however while in court that a document was brought regarding the source of the money and since then, our Client has made manifest his willingness to refund the money and has indeed approached his family, friends and associates to mobilise funds to refund the entire N400 million to the government regardless of the fact that the money had been expended based on the directives of the former President and that part of the money had been recovered from one of the prosecution witnesses.

4. We want to confirm that since then, we have been in talks with the Ministry of Justice, the EFCC and other necessary bodies on how to refund the money and resolve the issue.

5. Our client occupied no government office. His commitment and dedication to his official duties have been confirmed by even prosecution witnesses. In this whole saga, he has been an unfortunate victim of circumstances. His refunding the money therefore goes to show his support for the anti-corruption war as well as serve as a testament to his sincerity, integrity and honesty in this matter.

6. There is no doubt that the prosecution has considerably embarked on some expenses in the course of this case. It is hoped that by not discounting the sum already recovered, whatever cost so far incurred would have been defrayed. By this, a critical objective of recovery of funds would no doubt be achieved.

7. It is pertinent to restate our client's continued support for the anti-corruption campaign, which is necessary to ensure probity in the affairs of Nigeria to the extent that it is conducted within the rule of law.

8. Finally, it is our client's prayer that this nation shall come through this difficult time by the grace of the Almighty God.

 Signed:

Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN)

Man Bags 7 Years in Prison for Visa Scam
Justice J K Omotosho of the Federal High Court Kano, today convicted a school teacher, Idris Buhari and sentenced him to 7 years imprisonment for offences bordering on obtaining by false pretence.

The convict who was prosecuted on a three count charge brought against im by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,  was arrested following a complaint by Abdullahi Salisu Muhammad alleging that he gave the convict the sum of N500,000.00 for the processing of Hajj ticket in April, 2012, after he presented himself as a registered travelling agent. But the convict allegedly diverted the funds to his personal use and all efforts to recover the money or get the ticket were futile

Part of the charge reads, “that you Idris Buhari sometime in April 2012 at Kano within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court  with intend to defraud did obtain the sum of N500,000.00 cash from one Abdullahi Salisu Muhammad on the pretence that you are a registered travel agent licensed to provide visa and tickets for intending travellers for the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca which pretence you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1a, (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, 2016 and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the same Act”.

He pleaded guilty when the charge was read to him. Justice Omotosho consequently convicted and sentenced him to seven years imprisonment.

EFCC Arraigns Man for N11.5m Visa Scam

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 arraigned Abdulsalam Goni Sanda before Justice Olubunmi Banjoko of the Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Gudu, Abuja on a 4-count charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence to the tune of N11,450,000.00 (eleven million, four hundred and fifty thousand naira).

Sanda was alleged to have presented himself as an adhoc staff with the Saudi Arabian Embassy and also a travel agent with the capacity to secure visa for the complainant, one Bello Isah and 49 others who wanted to perform the 2014 hajj.

However, the suspect gave the petitioners photocopies of the visas and asked for full payment after which he promised that they will get the original copy from one Musa Ibrahim. The said Ibrahim collected the photocopies from the complainant and vanished into the thin air.

Efforts to get him or recover the money proved abortive.

One of the charges reads:
“Abdulsalam Goni Sanda, on about the 22nd day of September, 2014 in Abuja in the Abuja Judicial Division of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory with intent to defraud did obtain the sum of N1, 000, 000 (One million naira only) from the Traveler Enterprise Limited being part payment of the total sum of N11,450,000.00 (eleven million, four hundred and fifty thousand naira) with the false pretence that the money would be used for the procurement of visas and other travelling documents for various intending pilgrims for 2014 Hajj Pilgrimage”.

The defendant pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him.

In view of his plea, prosecuting counsel, Cosmos Ugwu asked the court for a date for trial.

Counsel to the accused person, M. M. Gumsuri urged the court to grant the accused to bail.
Justice Banjoko, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N5million with two sureties in like sum. The sureties may be ordinary citizens resident in Abuja.

The case is adjourned to September 27, 2016 for trial.

N2.9bn Fraud: Ex-Adamawa Gov, Fintiri Docked, Remanded In prison
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, June 30, 2016, arraigned Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and Mayim Construction and Properties Limited before Justice A.R. Mohammed of the Federal High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja on a 5-count charge of money laundering to the tune of N2.9billion.

Fintiri, a former speaker, who also served briefly as the acting Governor of Adamawa State, allegedly laundered monies through his naira and dollar accounts domiciled at Ecobank Plc., and making a large cash payment for the purchase of a property at Plot Number 7, Gana Street , Maitama, Abuja.

Count 4 of the charge reads:
“That you, Ahmadu Umaru (Alias Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri) and Mayim Construction and Properties Limited on or about the 9th October 2014 in Abuja within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did indirectly disguise the origin of the aggregate sum of N550,000,000 (Five Hundred and Fifty Million naira) through a term loan of twelve months purportedly granted to you by Ecobank Plc for the acquisition of a tea plantation farm from Nigeria Agricultural Bank in Taraba State which loan you repaid within three months as acting Governor of Adamawa State from sum which you know form part of proceeds of unlawful act to wit: corruption and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 15(2)(a) of the Money laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 as amended in 2012 and punishable under Section 15(3) and (4) of the same Act.”

Upon the reading of the charges, the first defendant, Fintiri pleaded not guilty, while a plea of ‘not guilty’ was also entered for Mayim Construction and Properties Limited, pursuant to the provisions of Section 478 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act.

In view of the pleas by the accused, counsel to EFCC, Aso Larrys Peters, requested for a date for commencement of trial, and that the defendant be remanded in prison custody.

However, counsel to the first and second defendants, Mahmud Abubakar Magaji, SAN, informed the court that he had a pending motion dated June 24, 2016 and filed on June 27, 2016 seeking for release of the defendant
on bail.

This was opposed by the prosecution who noted that the motion, which represented just the first defendant, sought to remove the second defendant from the matter.

"This is a criminal trial and it is fundamental that all processes before your lordship carries the appropriate parties. We have not amended the charge and your lordship has not ordered us to do so. The motion filed by the defence is a deliberate attempt to amend the charges, confuse and frustrate court processes", Peters kicked.

Referring to precedents, the prosecution requested that the court discountenance the application, describing it as incompetent.

However, his objection was overruled.
Consequently, the defence moved its application.
In his argument, Magaji stated that since the prosecution had deposed to a six-paragraph counter affidavit to the effect that investigations into the matter had been concluded and  the defendant had been on administrative bail of the EFCC, the defendant was not likely to jump bail and would always be available for trial.

The defence further presented exhibit MAM1 to the effect that the defendant was physically unwell.
Again, the motion was opposed by the prosecution, who pointed out that the exhibit MAM1 tendered alongside the defence's motion claimed that the defendant went for a physical examination on June 9, 2016, and was diagnosed with heart-related ailments and hypertension.

By this, the prosecution noted that, "It doesn't follow that results of tests can be issued before a consultation. On that date, the defendant was in the custody of the EFCC and only released by June 15, 2016, on administrative bail.

"Somebody is lying under oath. If your lordship grants bail, we are not sure that this matter will continue”, Peters submitted.

He urged that the discretion of court should be exercised judiciously based on material evidence before the court.

Thereafter, Justice Mohammed adjourned to July 1, 2016 for ruling on the bail application and ordered the defendant to be remanded in Kuje prison custody.

Court Dismisses Ohakim’s No-Case Submission
Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday, June 30, 2016, dismissed a no-case submission filed by a former Imo State governor, Ikedi Ohakim, through his counsel, Awa Kalu, SAN, against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Ohakim is facing trial for allegedly making a cash payment to the tune of $2, 290,000.00 (about N270,000,000) for the purchase of a property situated at Plot 1098 Cadastral Zone A04, Asokoro District, otherwise known as Number 60, Kwame Nkurumah Street, Asokoro in Abuja.

One of the counts reads:   “That you, Ikedi Ohakim, on or about the January 26, 2013 in Abuja within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court, while under arrest for an offence under the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Establishment Act, 2004 knowingly failed to make a full disclosure of your assets by not declaring your ownership of the property known and described as Plot No. 1098 Cadastral Zone A04, Asokoro District- it is also known as No.60, Kwame Nkurumah Street, Asokoro, Abuja and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 27(3)(c) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Establishment Act, 2004 and punishable under the same section.”

The former governor had pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge when it was read to him.

Consequently, the prosecution presented a number of witnesses and tendered several documents, which were admitted in evidence, to prove its case against the defendant, before it closed its case.

However, at the last hearing on June 6, 2016, the defence filed a no-case submission against the prosecution.

In his ruling today, Justice Ademola stated that the prosecution had been able to establish its case against the defendant.

The case has been adjourned to October 10 and 13, 2016 for the commencement of the defence.

TROOPS CLEAR BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS IN NGOSHE AND GAVA
Today, Tuesday 28th June 2016, troops of 121 Task Force Battalion, 26 Task Force Brigade, accompanied by a large number of Civilian JTF from Gwoza, embarked on a very aggressive patrol that dislodged remnants  Boko Haram terrorists hibernating at Ngoshe and Gava villages, located close to Gwoza on the mountainous terrain.

The essence of the robust patrol which was supported by the Nigeria Air Force and Cameroonian Defence Forces who provided air cover and real time Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance, was to clear the remnants of the terrorists hiding in the mountainous area and rescue all persons held hostages by the Boko Haram terrorists.

While advancing towards their objective in Ngoshe, the patrol team encountered Boko Haram terrorists.  They have to clear the delay positions staged by the terrorists through the support of the Nigeria Air Force fighter jets.

Although the number of terrorists killed could not be ascertained, quite a number of them where seen falling over the mountains when engaged. It is equally believed several others escaped with gun shot wounds.

The troops were however able to recover quite a number of arms and ammunitions. These include;  1 Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) tube, 4 RPG Bombs, 1 General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), 1 Fabrique Nationale (FN) rifle and 3 AK-47 rifles.

Other items recovered include 1 Sub-Machine Gun(SMG), 1 Locally made Pistol, a locally made Double-Barrel gun, 1 Smoke Grenade, 243 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition and 1 round of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.
They also recovered 18 rounds of MI16 rifle, 3 G3 Rifle magazines, 2 AK-47 magazines, 1 mobile telephone handset and a SIM card, as well as a pair of military desert camouflage uniform.
Other items were  an address card, 3 Boko Haram terrorists flags and a Toyota Hilux vehicle painted in desert camouflage colour and motorcycles.

The troops did not find any hostage in Gava. However, they rescued 16 civilians held in Ngoshe prison, while many residents of the town saw it as an opportunity to flee from the town. Both the rescued  and freed persons are being profiled by the troops.

YVONNE-JEGEDE-2-650x400
Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede, in a recent Instagram post, talked about a beauty pageant organizer in Delta State who tried to impose a candidate on her after calling her to be the chief judge of the pageant.
According to the busty actress, she was contacted to be the Chief Judge of Miss Delta Constituency Beauty Pageant but while the event was in progress, she was instructed to crown a certain contestant the winner despite her performance at the event.
She wrote, “I was called to be the chief judge at the Miss Delta Constituency Beauty Pageant that took place on the 24th June in Delta State and while I sat at the table with my fellow judges accessing the contestants making sure we pick who deserves to be queen, the organizer comes to our table to tell us who should win, who his candidate was.
The entire judges went angry including myself, wondering why you called us to waste our time if you already knew who the winner was. To be honest we stood our ground and picked the winner because, the obvious was stated, even the audience wanted the judges pick. Now the organizer IK is mad at me (chief judge) and refuses to buy my return ticket to Lagos and also refuses to pay my hotel bills the next morning. Lol.. Just an experience I thought I share. It is well with this country.”
Her allegation comes few weeks after winner of Miss Nollywood Nigeria Beauty Pageant blamed her sudden dethronement on her inability to yield to the sexual advances of the organizer.

She told The Entertainer in an exclusive interview, “Not at all. The ring my partner gave me is what they call ‘a commitment ring’. He gave me his mother’s wedding ring as a commitment to the relationship. We have been together for about nine years. When I met him, he used to wear the ring around his neck, so for me, it is a big deal.
He has entrusted me with something very close to his heart. It is not like we are going to start doing wedding and all that, even though we are really committed to each other. I call him ‘my last bus stop’. If God gives us long life and says there should be another man in my life, he is the man for me and I believe I am the woman for him as well.
When he made the proposal, we didn’t know that it was going to go viral.”

Nigeria’s sovereignty negotiable – Soyinka

Soyinka
Soyinka
Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has added his voice to the ongoing calls for the restructuring of the Nigerian federalism.
According to him, the sovereignty of the nation was very much negotiable.
The literary doyen, who spoke during a visit to Punch Place said decentralisation of the nation would ensure healthy rivalry among the component units.
The laureate said it was wrong for previous administrations in the country to say that Nigeria’s sovereignty was non-negotiable, opining that the position was antithetical to development.
He said, “I am on the side of those who say we must do everything to avoid disintegration. That language I understand. I don’t understand (ex-President Olusegun) Obasanjo’s language. I don’t understand (President Muhammadu) Buhari’s language and all their predecessors, saying the sovereignty of this nation is non-negotiable. It’s bloody well negotiable and we had better negotiate it. We better negotiate it, not even at meetings, not at conferences, but everyday in our conduct towards one another.
“We had better understand it too that when people are saying ‘let’s restructure’, they have better things to do. It’s not an idle cry; it is a perennial demand. The Pro-National Conference Organisation was about restructuring when this same Obasanjo said it was an act of treason for people to come together to fashion a new constitution. Those were fighting words; that you’re saying, ‘I commit treason because I want to sit with my fellow citizens and negotiate the structures of staying together’ and ask the police to go and break it up and arrest us.
“I remember that policeman, who said if we met, that would be treason. I wasn’t a member of PRONACO at the time. That’s when I joined PRONACO. If you’re saying to me, ‘I am a second-class citizen; I cannot sit down and discuss the articles, the protocols of staying together’ and you’re trying to bully me, I won’t accept.”
He said Nigeria could not continue with a centralisation policy, which encouraged what he described as “monkey dey work, baboon dey chop” mentality.
Soyinka said the over centralisation of government had resulted in resentment among constituent states, adding that the phenomenon was insulting and promoted anti-healthy rivalry among states.
He stated, “We cannot continue to allow a centralisation policy which makes the constituent units of this nation resentful; they say monkey dey work, baboon dey chop. And the idea of centralising revenues, allocation system, whereby you dole out; the thing is insulting and it is what I call anti-healthy rivalry. It is against the incentives to make states viable.”
He said it was high time government established state police to check the rising security challenges in the country, stressing that policing was more effective when localised.
Soyinka added, “I know people get nervous about that expression. If you go to a place like England, you sometimes see two, three, four police (officers) just walking casually unarmed, but they are observing everything.
“Now, if policing is all of that, then I think the police are more efficient if they are based within a smaller constituency than a larger one. Within such constituencies, the policeman virtually knows everybody. A federal, centralised system of police lacks that advantage.
“So, I find it very difficult to accept that people can be nervous about the state police. State police has been abused. Nobody is denying that; it’s historical. Don’t tell us because we know already. But isn’t centralised police also abused? Look at what’s been coming out from the last elections, not just the police, but the military.”
Soyinka said the intrusive nature of Fulani herdsmen was no longer a remote problem for him personally, alleging that some Fulani herdsmen had invaded the privacy of his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
“It is no longer a remote problem for me. It is an actuality,” he said, recalling that the killings carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Enugu some months ago was mismanaged by the government.
“In Enugu, why did it take so long to investigate the killings? It’s like the case of Ese Oruru. What is all this? What is security for? That thing should have been addressed immediately. (In Enugu), they shouldn’t have waited for directives from Buhari or anybody. This is a crime against humanity. There should be no debate about it.
“The military should have been drafted there immediately; the police, first of all, and the military – if necessary. I found out that the victims were arrested; what’s all that about? This menace is underestimated. If they had reached my secure place in Abeokuta, then it is no longer a remote problem.”

DIVORCED? DON’T GIVE UP!

"...we have fixed our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers." - 1 Timothy 4:10
There are very few of us who haven’t been affected by the heartbreak of divorce, whether it’s in our families or our friends. Very often people who face divorce feel hopeless. Sadly, many who turn to the church for help feel rejected, not welcomed. Many have told me they felt outcast and shunned, even if they were the spouse left behind. Sometimes this is a perception, but sometimes it is very real. Tragically, the Christian army is the only army in the world known to shoot its wounded. Christians should be known as the army who loves and helps to heal our wounded!
Yes, Scripture teaches that God hates divorce, but just because He hates divorce doesn’t mean He hates the divorcee. He loves the divorcee. God hates divorce for many of the same reasons the divorcee hates divorce – most of all, for the pain and suffering it causes in so many lives. There is no doubt that divorce always results from sin – but, we are all sinners –  divorce is not the unforgivable sin. The only unforgivable sin is to reject Jesus Christ!
Divorce is never what God wants, but Jesus teaches us that we have a God of second chances – a God of forgiveness. When we trust in Christ and confess our sins to the Lord, we begin to realize He loves us and forgives us completely. We can find that total and complete healing in the person of Jesus Christ.

I Didn't Send Any Message From Detention- Fani-Kayode

RE: FEMI-FANI-KAYODE SENDS MESSAGE TO ALL CHRISTIANS AND APOSTLE SULEIMAN FROM DETENTION
This is to inform the general public that the purported message making the rounds that Chief Femi Fani-Kayode wrote a certain message to Christians and Apostle Suleiman from detention is not true. That message was part of a long and systematic plot by mischief makers, his traducers and detractors to continue to discredit and malign his person and character, and cause disaffection among his friends, associates and supporters. We therefore urge members of the public to disregard that message and treat it as non-existent.
Thank you.

maleke
Popular comedian, singer and Edo State Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) president, Maleke Idowu Moye was almost beaten to death by thugs on Monday June 27, 2016 in Benin City.
According to the slender comedian and compere, a bar owner had thrown a party the previous day and threw cash in the air which caused a bit of a stir. So he went back there the following day to speak with them only for the bar owner, Kevin Joshua, to descend on him with thugs, deflate his tyres and rob him of close to $7,000 dollars paid to him for a show abroad.
Kevin Joshua however claims Maleke’s claims are false and a calculated attempt to drag his name in mud, saying he never attacked the comedian. According to him, Maleke was the one who came in with thugs to disrupt his business and wreak havoc in his bar.
The acting Edo State Police Public relations officer, Stephen Onwoche noted that a full scale investigation into the crisis has begun and three persons and three arrests concerning the attack have already been made,
Maleke is currently being treated in a hospital for injuries he sustained during the bitter brawl.
