‘Emergency crooner’, Dbanj, who has contributed his fair share to the Nigerian music industry for 10 years, was recently a guest on CNN African Voices where he shared some surprising facts that lead him to being a singer.
In an interview with Keturah King of CNN, Dbanj said:
‘I was never in one place. I was always moving around with my
dad from one barracks to the next. I loved the military, i wanted to
save the world, i wanted to be the first black super-hero,“
“But, then instead of carrying the gun to save the world, i carried the microphone.
“10 years ago we had no music industry, but 10 years today every household has a musician. If you are not a daring person you can’t be here o. If you check Forbes today where you have the Beyonce’s and the Jay-z‘ you have to do beyond your singing nd performing. You have to be a brand You have to be a brand enough to sell products that will make relevance,” Dbanj also explained that the sudden death of his brother was what began his music career and that his love for the Harmonica influenced his music making him a star. |

Ex Mr Nigeria, actor and model, Emmanuel Ikubese, is one of the most sought after Nigerian bachelors in showbiz.
In a recent chat with Thebrief ng, Emmanuel lists the things that turn him on and off in a woman.
On the 5 things that turn him off in a lady
In in no particular order, they are:
– Arrogance: I dislike a lady who is very arrogant, someone who feels she is on top of the world and wants to show off.
– Deception: Some people call it fashion but I dislike a lady who puts on hips pads, or fake bum just to feel among.
– A woman who acts like she is always right and never takes to correction.
– A woman who doesn’t know how to take care of her body and a woman who has bad breath.
– A woman who has no drive in life, no goals and aspirations.
On the 5 things that turn him on in a lady
In no particular order, they are:
– Her
Personality: It’s one thing that really gets to me. I appreciate someone
who brings light and positive vibes to an environment with the way she
talks and comports herself. Then she has to be kind and polite.
–
Intelligence: I like a woman who is very intelligent, someone who I can
share ideas with. Someone who can challenge me and talk about creative
stuff.
– Confidence:
I like a woman who knows what she wants, who is confident in herself
and everything she does. From the way she dresses to how she walks and
talks.
– Sense of
humour: A woman with a great sense of humour, who can take a joke and
understands that things are never that serious. Someone who is happy and
fun loving.
– A good listener: A woman who listens and can practically tell you what you said in a previous conversation you had.
On his definition of love
Hmm
love is a very complicated word to describe, but to me it is when there
is no longer self in the decisions you make. Your decisions are centred
around making that person smile and happy because if they are, then you
are.
Have you found her?
Yes I have found her.

According to Forbes, Bill Gates maintains his spot as the richest man in the world, while there are some interesting changes like that of Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, who made more than $11 billion in one year, which took him from $33.4 billion in earnings in 2015 to $44.6 billion in earnings in 2016. According to Forbes magazine: ”Bill Gates remains the richest person in the world with a net worth of $75 billion, despite being $4.2 billion poorer than a year ago. He has been No. 1 one for 3 years in a row and topped the list 17 out of 22 years. (In the 30 years FORBES has tracked global wealth, only 5 people have held the title of richest person on planet; 3 of those 5 still rank among the 4 richest in the world including Warren Buffett and Carlos Slim.) Also holding steady is Buffett at No. 3. Zara ’s Amancio Ortega moves up to No. 2 for the first time, displacing Mexico’s Carlos Slim, who slips to No. 4. Slim’s fortune fell $27.1 billion to $50 billion in the past year, as shares of his telecom business América Móvil tumbled. Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg had the best year of all billionaires. The 31-year-old added $11.2 billion to his fortune and moved up to No. 6 from 16. He and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos both make their first appearance in the top ten of FORBES’ annual ranking of the world’s wealthiest. Another first: A billionaire from China’s mainland, Wang Jianlin, whose company owns AMC Theaters and soon will own Legendary Pictures, has climbed into the top 20.” |

Many people may not know that Nigerian rapper, Folarin ‘Falz’ Falana is a lawyer and both his parents are also lawyers. His father, renowned lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, has explained the reason why parents should allow their children choose their desired career path rather than imposing their own choice on them. According to The Leadership, Femi Falana spoke on his son’s decision to pursue music despite studying law in England, stating that Falz approached him, saying he was tired of practicing in the legal profession which as expected left him surprised. Eventually Femi Falana tried to understand the idea behind the decision, but Falz however could not get his mother to understand the idea. In conclusion, here’s Mr Femi Falana’s advice to parents on allowing their children follow their dreams. “Don’t force any course on your children; don’t insist that they must be doctors or lawyers. My son Folarin, who was working in our chambers, came to inform me one day that he wanted to leave. I said I could find him a place in one of my friends’ chambers. But he said no, ‘I’m going to be a musician’. When I asked why, he convinced me but he couldn’t convince his mother because she’s also a lawyer. Today, he’s doing well as a musician and not as a lawyer. So let’s debate with our children to know what they want to do.” |

Long emotional messages are not my thing, as you will realize by the end of this looong terrible idea(an Emmanuel love letter lol), but you give me the kind of feeling that people write novels about, so I might as well try my hand at it. |

Some Nigerians. comprising of Lagosians, have given their different advice to bread seller turned model, Olajumoke Orisaguna.
In separate interviews with NAN on Thursday in Lagos, read below their various thoughts on Olajumoke’s sudden fame.
Miss Nneka Ibemesi, a student of the University of Lagos, said:
”No matter the amount of money, she will make from the model, she needs education to enable her know her left from right. Without education, she will not go far and as it is people are just telling her what to do, the day she demands for what she really wants, her career will end.
I guess people just want to use her illiteracy to make money and gain publicity,”
Mrs Deborah Mathew said:
”Posterity will not forgive her
for that because the children will see it and might emulate her and she
cannot advise them because she is guilty.
What example is she creating for youths like her and her environment; you can see how her boobs and thighs are showing.
This is not the type of modelling we are talking about for a married woman,”
Mr Olabisi Aderibigbe, a computer engineer, said:”The model is lucky to be seen and picked but my worry is that she does not know the terrain she has gone into.
Exposing body is unAfrican, soon they will give her only pant and bra to wear and cat walk all in the name of modelling.
Whatever the people that found her out are doing, they should
have at the back of their minds that she is a married woman with kids. They should have the decency to choose better clothes for her,” |
