The Wonderful Name of Jesus and Its Implications on the Believers

Prophesy: Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Right from this prophesy, it is obvious that Jesus Christ is not an ordinary prophet or man. He is God in Man. He’s Immanuel- God is with us. A cursory study of these prophetic names reveals that only God answers to them all.
But my focus is on WONDERFUL. If His name is "Wonderful," then there will be nothing dull about His reign! (A commentary read). If His Name is Wonderful, it means His Name is full of wonders! Even His cynics agreed to the fact that He was a miracle workers while He was in the flesh. He healed the sick, set the captives free, the lame walked at His command, the blind saw, the lepers were cleansed, Jesus raised the dead, He multiplies little food to feed the multitude in thousands and the list is endless.

While He was going, He gave the Church the authority to continue where He stopped. He gave us what lawyers understand as the power of attorney. John 14:13-14, Mark 16:17-18, Luke 10:19. But sorry to note that the same Church is asking Him to perform the assignment He gave her! I will return to this later.

Jesus told us that as God had sent Him so also He’s sending us. Which means whatever He was able to do while here on earth, everyone who believes in Him could do and even more! (John 14:12 & 20:21).

All over the world, the wonderful Name of Jesus is still at work. Why? Simply because Jesus has given us the Power of attorney. As long as you are a believer in His Name, you have the same equalt right with any great servant of God anywhere in the world. Jesus told us point blank in John 14:13-14 that whatever we ask in His Name will be given! But perhaps you are thinking, “If this true, why do I have some prayers that the answers have not come or not come at all?” It simply means you may be ignorant of what the Name contains or how Jesus Name became the most powerful in heaven, or earth and under the earth.

 The power and the authority came after His resurrection (Matthew 28:18&19; Acts 13:33). If Jesus had not risen from the dead, He would have been one of the prophets but His risen gave Him the Name that is superior to any angel or human and instead, every being, angel, demon or human being must bow down to the Name.

Hear E.W. Kenyon, whose book The Wonderful Name of Jesus, influenced Hagin to write his, The Name of JESUS, “Oh, that our eyes were open; that our souls would dare rise into realm of Omniscient where the Name would mean to us all that the Father has invested in it; that we would act up to our high privileges in Christ Jesus. This is practically unexplored tableland in Christian experience.

Here and there, some of us have experienced the authority vested in the Name of Jesus. We have seen the lame walk, the deaf hear, the blind see; those on the verge of death brought back instantly to health and vigor; but, so far, none of us have been able to take a permanent place in our privileges and abide where we may enjoy the fullness of this mighty power.”

HOW DID JESUS GET THAT AUTHORITY INTO HIS NAME?
A.    BY INHERITANCE – Hebrews 1:1-6
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:
Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
Verse 4 says Jesus inherited a more excellent name than the angels. He is the express image of God . And this came after His resurrection (Hebrews 10:5, 2:0; John 1:1,14; Acts 13:33, Acts 2:25-27; 29-31) .
B.     BY CONQUEST : Colossians 2:13-15. Apostle Paul discloses that after His resurrection and ascension, God set Him at His own right hand in the heavenlies and goes further to describe the geographical location of the place: “Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:” (Ephesians 1:21).
According to Kenneth E. Hagin, “By His conquest of these principalities, powers, might, and dominion, Jesus obtained that Name!” The great Servant of God cited Colossians 2:15 “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”

Let me quote some different versions of 3:15 “He stripped all the spiritual tyrants in the universe of their sham authority at the Cross and marched them naked through the streets” MSG
“He disarmed the principalities and powers…(Conybeare).
Jesus …”exposed them, shattered, empty and defeated, in his own triumphant victory.” (Phillips translation).
Hebrews 2:14- …in order that through death He might paralyse him that held the dominion of death, that is the adversary.” (Rotherham’s translation.
NOTE: These are the same principalities and powers spoken of in Ephesians 6:12. They are the same ones he overcame, spoiled and rendered powerless! Read more of His Conquest in Colossians 1:13, 1 Corinthians 2:6 Moffatt translation states; “We do discuss ‘wisdom’ with those who are mature; only it is not the wisdom of this world or of the dethroned Powers who rule this world.”

C.    GOD-GIVEN Philippians 2:9-11, Ephesians 1:17-23 (Paul’s prayer Moffatt on page 25)

I have met some critics who could stand why we should be praying in Jesus Name or why seemingly rating Him higher than God Himself. Their observation may be right but my answer is “It is God Himself who gave Jesus Name the authority ascribing to it” Read this;

 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
“That Name is just as wonderful as He is. That Name is just as mighty as He is. That Name is just as powerful as He is. That Name is just as great as He is. That is the reason it is a more excellent Name.” (Kenneth E. Hagin).
When you know this truth and know that the Name belongs to you, you render satan impotent concerning every area of your life. Satan has no authority to dominate you and whenever he tries it, you invoke the Wonderful Name of Jesus.
Whenever you say in Jesus Name, it is no longer you that is speaking to the situation but Jesus Christ Himself! This must be behind you and whatever that has a name bows down to the authority in His Name. Never again would you be a victim of any satanic arrow in Jesus Name.
NOTE: This was the message God sent our way today. In that wonderful Name of Jesus Christ, I proclaim your healing, liberty, deliverance, open doors, open heaven, job, contracts, peace in your home/office, unlimited promotion, victory etc on your destiny.
