Ali Baba entered a bet with a renowned lawyer promising to give him N1 million if Jacob Zuma did not visit while the Lawyer promised to give Ali Baba N2 million if President Zuma did visit. Pres. Zuma has indeed visited and Ali Baba is extremely excited. Read what he shared on his Instagram page: ”When people call me a comedian, I don’t argue. Because I am. When people call me unserious, I sometimes agree reluctantly. But to be honest, I am a lot of things. I love to read. I love photography. I probably have originated and designed many corporate logos of companies, But that’s what a ghost creative mind does. The other thing I do a lot is look beyond the noise and the consequences of certain issues in the front burner of our national discourse. When the fine was placed on MTN by NCC, I told someone who is a renowned lawyer and seasoned commentator on national affairs, that if Mandela were alive, MTN and South African Government would have sent him to talk to the Nigerian government, all in a bid to not pay that fine. He said everything is a joke to you. But I was serious. That in the present situation, he should watch and see, that President Jacob Zuma would be heading to Nigeria shortly, to negotiate the penalty. One of the people at the gathering, a former minister, told me to go and sit down. I don’t know how it came to betting, but one of them said if Zuma comes to Nigeria because of the MTN issue he will give me 2 million Naira. And if he doesn’t, and the issue is resolved, I will give him N1m. The former minister witnessed. So, there I was this morning at about 8:30am, just getting ready for the office, my phone rang. It was Oga Former minister. “Ali, I am beginning to fear you ooo.” What did I do sir? “President Zuma is coming to Nigeria! You this Urhobo winch!”. I hung up & called my debtor. The phone rang out. He called me back, 30 minutes or so, later. Oga Zuma is coming oooo! “Don’t be too excited” he said, “we are not sure it’s because of MTN”. Ok sir, I replied. The details of the visit are being worked out right now. And guess what, it’s looking like I predicted. Why was MTN fined? NCC claims people were using their unregistered SIM cards to carry out terrorist acts, kidnapping, Robbery and all kinds of act that undermined the security & peace of this country. Fast forward. Nigeria just signed a security pact with The SA government. Then the next thing Zuma visits… Wetin o sabi SEF? Me I am waiting for my alert. Call me comedian again!” |

Nollywood actress and producer, Caroline Danjuma, is just another woman advocating for women to support each other and stop tearing themselves down. Many other women have spoke about this issue in the past. In a recent post, Caroline says: ”Women are the architects of their own misery. There will never be equal rights for women in employment, political positions, social ,educationAl and cultural sectors. Women are their own worst enemy , extremely judgemental of one another, envious and hardly supportive of one another. The men will always be dominant in all aspects ,until women learn to stop criticising and condemning each other they will never get to the top. Most of the most successful women in the world are 95% criticised and abused by WOMEN. I wonder the day we will have female governors and a female president , I am certainly sure women will vote her out. Only a woman with a low self esteem will judge another woman just to make herself feel good. A Queen supports and praises a Queen. Women will NEVER get what they truly deserve in this world unless they unite in love . Women are always the first to cast a stone . If you all could spend 80% of the time you spend on being little demons in another woman’s life and be more productive and supportive , we will be more respected and valued in our society . #yougiveoutwhatyouget#stopthehatesisters.” |

The Ooni of Ife, H.R.M Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi will be tying the knot with his wife to be, Wuraola Otiti Obanor on the 12th of March, 2016. Perhaps what attracted the Ooni to Wuraola is the fact that she bears the same name as his late mother Princess Margaret ‘Wuraola’ Ogunwusi. According to Dawn to dusk news, here’s is what led to their meeting: Many have been wondering if the charming first-class king ascended the throne without a wife. Let’s tell you that the 41-year-old king was married to Bukola Bombata who stepped out with him during his coronation in December 2015. Then-Prince Adeyeye Ogunwusi at 31 years old, married Bukola {nee Bombata} in 2008. They had a traditional wedding, and holy solemnization in church. We however gathered that before then, things were not going on smoothly on the home front with the estranged couple. Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has a child Adeola from a previous relationship. The well-loved king decided to seek his love in Wuraola soon after his first marriage to Bukola crashed due to irreconcilable differences. Before news of their separation was made public, Oba Ogunwusi shut down speculations about his marriage status when he started appearing at public events without Bukola. The first-class king will however cease to be a bachelor from this Saturday. After his traditional wedding to Wuraola on Sunday, 13th March 2016, there will be a thanksgiving ceremony at the Royal Court of Ife, Aafin, Enuwa Square in Ile-Ife, Osun State by 12 noon. Dawn-To-Dusk News gathered that though the coming together of Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and Wuraola Obanor is seen as a rather unexpected union, the lovebirds couldn’t have been happier as they are head over heels with each other. According to a source, It was in Lagos that the Ooni and Wuraola were said to have been introduced. He lived previously in Lagos and owned a thriving real estate business Essential Homes headquartered in Lekki. “Ooni is very happy and they get along so well. They’re having a great time together. There are so many qualities that Ooni found in Wuraola: aside her beauty, she’s respectful, gracious, cool-headed, and homely. Friends have since said they have never seen Ooni as happy as he is with Wuraola, and her joy is evident whenever they are together!” |

The 2016 AMVCAs have come and gone but many are still talking about the the incredible fashion ensembles and not so incredible ones while there were some major disagreements about the award winners. But a question most ask is how did Genevieve Nnaji’s ‘Road To Yesterday’ movie win Best Movie In West Africa and Stephanie Okereke’s ‘Dry’ movie won Overall Movie In Africa, It is being argued that Stephanie Okereke should have won both awards. Read the interesting write up by Segun Odejimi below: ”How many tequilas did you have before deciding which movie was to win the Best Movie – West Africa, AMVCA?
The last time I checked,
Amstel Malta, the official drink and one of the major sponsors of last
night’s awards didn’t contain alcohol. If it did, that probably would
have explained the glaring bias of naming Genevieve Nnaji‘s Road to Yesterday the best movie out of West Africa in 2015.
Here’s where I need help for my slow brain: Stephanie Linus‘ Dry,
according to you, was the best overall movie. That means in the whole
of Africa yet you think no one would raise eyebrows when you say Road to
Yesterday is the best West African movie. How does that add up? Or did
the United Nations move West Africa out of Africa while I was sleeping?
Is it now a part of Asia? Why didn’t someone at least tell me that? For those who don’t know what my issue is, let me try and break it down. I conduct a survey across all states in Nigeria. I publish the report and state that Car Q is the most expensive car in Nigeria. But in that same report, I say that when you go to Lagos, you will find a car more expensive than Car Q there.
Doesn’t that sound like bullshit? No, isn’t that bullshit?
Well, that was the bullshit AMVCA vomited on all of Africa last
night just because Genevieve Nnaji is an Amstel Malta ambassador. Is
anyone still surprised that Yvonne Nelson questioned the integrity of
AMVCA last night? The african film industry will only threaten to be
great without actually becoming great if insincerities like this
continue.
Road to Yesterday was a good film. Good, not great. It had no
right whatsoever to beat Dry on a level playing field. It is
controversial enough that a substantial chunk of the major categories at
the AMVCA is voting-based. Yes, I know the name contains the phrase
“viewer’s choice” but the jury is still out on whether there should be a
viewer’s choice awards considering its allowance for voting bias.
Sometimes, it all just boils down to how many fans I have and my level
of social media presence rather than whether I am the best in that
category. As long as it stays that way, arguments will continue to fly
back and forth. Whatever your argument is though, the daylight robbery
carried out on Dry is too hard to ignore. It is even harder to defend.
Maybe the outcry is a bit muted because Genevieve and Stephanie
are friends or because the victim, Stephanie, is also a big name. What
if Dry had been made by a “rookie”? It doesn’t even matter anyway. A
robbery is a robbery.
And robberies will just keep giving the Yvonne Nelsons of this
continent and beyond the sticks with which to beat African awards.” |
