POLICE BATTLE TO REPAIR THEIR CHOPPER FORCED LANDED IN ABUJA
The Nigeria Police Force has not succeeded in repairing its chopper that was forced to land while conveying the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo last week.
According to reports, a major tragedy was averted when the chopper belonging to the Police that was to convey Osinbajo from the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada in Abuja, was forced to land, few seconds after its’ take off.
Osinbajo was in the school for the graduation ceremony of Senior Division Course 1 /2018 participants. The chopper had reportedly taken the Vice President to the college for the ceremony.
According to security sources, all efforts to return the chopper back to Louis Edet House, the Police Headquarters have not yielded fruits because they have not succeeded in repairing it.
“The chopper is still lying down at the Customs Command College till now because they have not repaired it. The Police have been trying all they could but their engineers have not succeeded. They have been doing this all nights,” a security source disclosed.
He lamented why the Presidency has to depend on the Police chopper for such a visit that was a 40 minutes drive to the city of Abuja.
“Thank God the tragedy was averted. The Presidency shouldn’t have used such a chopper which was not in a very good condition. I and you know how poor the Police is being funded. If the Presidency has no chopper of its own, the best option was to go by road since Gwagwalada is just a 40 minutes drive to town.”
According to the report, while taking off, the chopper could not ascend above the tree level, when it emitted thick smoke and was forced to land on the same spots few seconds after take off.
