FG Should Stop Killings in Nigeria - Ex-Minister tells Buhari

UNONGO DECRIES KILLINGS IN NIGERIA

Former Minister for Steel in the second republic, Paul Unongo has lamented that Nigeria is deteriorating to a no state with the level of incessant killings across the country.
Unongo made the lamentation yesterday at Government House, Makurdi while commenting on the murder of over eight persons by suspected herdsmen in his home country, Kwande local government area on Sunday.
He said killings of human life are an abomination and bad signal, wondering why human life has become so cheap in Nigeria. The former chairman, Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF challenged the federal government  calling on it to take effective steps to stop the killings across the country, especially in Benue State.
“Federal government should take effective action to contain all killing since the primary responsibility of any government is the protection of lives and property. If we cannot stay peacefully in our homes, then this is really bad. Government should suppress the killings. Killing is a bad signal.
Why is human live so cheap now. Killing of human being is abomination, Nigeria is deteriorating into no state,” the elderstates man lamented.

On what the killings portends for 2019 election and if Benue people will still vote the All Progressives Congress, APC, he said, “Benue people are educated enough. They know what is good for them. We will examine the manifestos of all the political parties. We, the leaders, will make demands in view of all the experiences we have passed through, the political party or parties that promise us a good deal, we will go with such party.”
It would be recalled that suspected armed Fulani herdsmen, last Sunday attacked and killed eight people mostly children leaving six others with severe injuries,  during their invasion of Tseadough, a village in Mbachom, Yaav Ward council of Kwande local government area of Benue State.
