The
Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Monday Igbuya Tuesday paid
tribute to late Olorogun Michael Onajirevbe Ibru, describing him as a modest
and strong businessman.
In
a statement issued in Lagos by his chief press secretary, Mr. Henry Ebireri,
Igbuya consoled
family and friends of the late Ibru, saying they should be glad because he had
lived a worthy and fulfilled life.
He
also urged members of his family to stand strong and united as they mourn
Olorogun Ibru.
“Olorogun
Micheal Ibru was a shrewd businessman with a good heart” he said.
Igbuya lauded Ibru’s great concern for the
unity of Urhobo. “Olorogun Michael Ibru as an international businessman, philanthropist, educator, a lover of children, grassroots organizer and community leader gained the respect, trust and love of the entire country and he will be greatly missed” the statement said.
Igbuya prayed Almighty God to grant the soul of the late businessman eternal rest and grant members of the family the strength to bear the loss.
Delta
Speaker, Amori, others counsel politicians on unity
The members of the legislature; senators,
representatives and assembly men and women as well as party leaders,
commissioners, advisers, special assistants, leaders of thought, professionals,
intellectuals and business executives from Delta Central on Sunday evening took
giant steps toward party unity.
At a meeting of Delta Central Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) leaders in Sapele, speaker after speaker identified unity as the
basis for progress in the area.
Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon
Monday Igbuya urged the leaders not to encourage or create parallel forces in
the party.
“If we must make progress, it is imperative that we
unite”
Igbuya who decried the hardship Nigerians are going
through courtesy of the government at the federal level appealed to party
faithful to hasten the demise of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State
by working together.
“APC has nothing to offer. This is not the change
Nigerians are looking for. The task ahead is great. It is my view and the view
of party faithful that the Delta Central PDP must remain united. We need unity
to defeat our enemies” he said.
In a lengthy
but poetic presentation, Igbuya rejected grotesque posturing as ways of solving
the country’s problems.
Igbuya while dismissing insinuations that Governor
Okowa was killing DESOPADEC, urged the party at the national level to think of
solutions that would solve the economic problems of the country.
“We have moved beyond the realms of rhetoric. They
should focus on concrete action” he advised.
Senator Ighoyota Amori, Chief Emmanuel Aguariavwodo
and other PDP leaders vowed to work together with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and
Chief Monday Igbuya to develop the state.
They praised Okowa and Igbuya for changing the content
and direction of government.
They also praised the governor and the speaker for
their responsiveness to the aspiration of the common man, effort towards a
greater Delta State and their concept of democracy demonstrated through good
governance.
Specifically, the PDP stalwarts commended Okowa for
focusing on meaningful development projects.
