Irked by the sudden withdrawal of the Chief Security Officer and other security personnel attached to the Rivers State Governor, His Excellency, Chief  NyesomWike, by the Commissioner of Police, Francis Odesanya, the Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bro. Felix Obuah says it is another confirmation of the grand conspiracy between the All Progressives Congress, APC, the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Police authorities, aimed at creating upheavals and insecurity in the State to justify their usual push for shifting of election in the State.

The PDP Chairman, describing the development as one of the unusual and unfriendly actions of the Police, said such undertaking raises serious questions on the neutrality, integrity and commitment of the Police under CP Odesanya, in dealing with security issues and protection of lives and property in the State.

Bro. Obuah further said withdrawing security details of the governor also poses grave danger to the success of the forthcoming elections as well as exposing the Police already compromised stance and conspiracy with the APC in attempting to rig the December 10 re-run legislative elections in Rivers State.

The PDP Chairman is further concerned with the fact that the Police authorities have conducted themselves in a manner that shows they do not value the life of the Governor, his family and all those working with him, but places high value on lives of members and leaders of the All Progressives Congress, including someone (Mr. Ojukaye Flag-Amakiri) who is standing trial on a murder case but has just been granted bail from prison custody and now moves around with heavy security apparatus provided by the Rivers State Police Command.

The PDP called on the Inspector General of Police to reconsider the security implications of the withdrawal of security details to the governor, the concern this development has raised and the need for the Police to remain committed to their statutory responsibilities as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and to which he and all Men and Officers of the Force vowed to respect and pledged allegiance to.

Inspite of this development however, the PDP assured the Police authorities of its continued cooperation, especially in giving the people of Rivers State the desired peace and secured environment always, including during and after the December 10 elections in parts of the State.

The Party also called the attention of the international community to this dangerous trend by the Police in the State, asking for the full restoration of the security personnel to the governor urgently and to ensure they act as those paid and maintained by taxes of all Nigerians.
