The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has once again pleaded with
players of the Super Eagles, over the delay in paying their outstanding
bonuses and allowances.
Florence Omagbemi’s team have been holed up in an Abuja hotel in protest, since they came back the 2016 African Women Cup of Nations, where they emerged champions.
In an interview with The Guardian on Friday, spokesman of the
federation, Ademola Olajire, revealed that they were still waiting for
the Federal Government to release funds.
Olajire also pointed out that the lack of funds in the NFF, was not
only affecting the Falcons, as players and officials of the Super Eagles
are also being owed bonuses for two games in the 2018 World Cup
qualifiers.
He said: “The NFF is still waiting on the Federal Government for
money to settle the Falcons bonuses. I don’t understand why some people
are putting sentiments on this Falcons’ bonuses.
“We are not placing any priority on Super Eagles over Falcons. NFF
duty is to give all national teams the best assistance to excel. People
should stop placing sentiments on the issue. We are yet to pay the Super
Eagles their allowances for two matches and they are cooperating with
us. It will be paid soon.”
