No Ransome Was Paid to Release three victims of Abductors

   Press Statement

The attention of the Ondo State government has been drawn to a malicious  statement  trending  on the  social media that ransom was paid to secure the release of three kidnapped victims recently.

This false statement was purportedly  written by the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria

Alarmed by the atrocious contents of the mendacious statement, the Ondo State Government investigated the claims and discovered the following:

1. That no ransom was paid to secure the release of the three people recently freed from the kidnappers hideout in the Ore area of Ondo State.

2. The Catholic  Secretariat did not issue any statement, as confirmed by Rev Fr. Leo Aregbesola, Director, Social Communications, Catholic Diocese of Ondo.  It was the handiwork of some evil doers who are badly hit by the new renewed crackdown on criminal gangs in Ondo State.

3. The multi-pronged security measures taken by the State Government continues to support the efforts of the State Police Command to rid the State of criminals.

4. The state government congratulates the state police command and its personnel for the bravery displayed in the rescue of the three kidnapped victims.

The government will also want to restate its commitment to the safety of the citizenry and to warn all criminally-minded people that every part of the state is no longer safe for them to operate.
