Shape Up or Shop Out - CG Warns Civil Defence Officers

CG TASKS OFFICERS TO SHAPE UP OR SHIP OUT

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu has warned personnel of the Corps to be of good behaviour by shunning acts that could tarnish the image of the Corps. He reprimanded the Officers and Men, that crime and criminalities should not be mentioned among them as discipline personnel whose primary responsibility is to ''defend the defenceless''.

The Commandant General made this known while addressing the personnel following the ugly incident that occurred in Lagos where it was reported that the Corps personnel beat up a tanker driver.

Gana, while reacting to the ugly incidence emphasised that, ''personnel must be of good behaviour by obeying the Public Service rules as stipulated in the Public Service Charter and Scheme of Service''. He frowned at what happened and described the whole situation as been unfortunate and uncalled for, thereby, stating that the perpetrators will not go unpunished as they have been arrested, detained, panel of inquiry set up to investigate the case and the victims are to appear before the panel for their testimonies and meanwhile as a discipline Corps, the affected personnel have been suspended pending the conclusion of the case by the panel.

He affirmed that, those found guilty will be dealt with hence there is no sacred cow  in the Corps; cautioning that the rule of law and strict discipline that NSCDC is known for, must be maintained to achieve the core mandate of the Corps and to justify the confidence repose on her by the populace.

The CG called on well-meaning Officers and members of the public not to lose confidence on the Corps, he also urged officers who are doing well to continue as their reward is on the way and those found wanting of any criminal offences will be shown the way out.

He reiterated that the Corps is standing on a very strong ground and cannot be rubbished by anybody no matter where such person is coming from.  That the Corps must continue to match on till all the ills of the society are totally eradicated, therefore, anyone that is not ready to work in line with the Corps dictates should step aside.
