CAN Condemns Invasion of the Senate
CAN Plateau State Chapter on the Show of Shame at the Senate.
CAN Plateau State Chapter joins all concerned Nigerians in expressing disgust on what can be described as the height of shame and insecurity in Nigeria as exhibited yesterday the 18th April 2018 by the so called hoodlums. For Nigerians and indeed the International Community to watch some people invading proudly into the hallowed chamber and carted away the Mace which is the symbol of the authority of the legistature is to confirm that all is not well in our country and nobody is safe anymore. Infact the Senate President or the Speaker House of Representatives could easily have been picked away too! CAN Plateau State Chapter sees the invation as not only a show of shame to the Senate but a National embrassment to the entire country. It is also a red signal that our security system is rapidly deteriorating.
CAN condemns in very strong terms the action and calls upon Nigerians to allow democracy and rule of law to take their course. Politics as is being practice in Nigeria is becoming more and more retrogressive than progressive.
No matter the grievances, no matter the point someone wanted to make and no matter what and want --- what happened yesterday was and is uncall for, it was illegal, immature and shameful. It is not a demonstration of brevity but crass foolishness as there are better ways to solve our differences.
CAN calls on the security agents NOT TO ONLY RECOVER THE MACE but to bring the perpetrators and their collaborators of the shameful act to public view, and to be made to face the full wrath of the law.
CAN calls on the National Assembly to strengthen their security to avoid any possible recurrence of this type of national embarrassment.
CAN commends the House of Representatives for their show of solidarity.

CAN Chairman, Plateau State Chapter
