GOD WILL SURELY SHOW YOU KINDNESS
When the people in the palace heard that King Saul and his son Jonathan had died in battle, they panicked. Fearful that David was coming to seize the throne, and kill all the sons and grandsons of Saul, they ran for their lives. A nurse took Mephibosheth, Jonathan’s son, and ran. But as she fled, the five-year-old boy fell and became lame in both feet. (2 Samuel 4:4)

The poor boy would not have been crippled if they had known that David actually loved Jonathan and Saul, and would have looked after Jonathan’s son because he had made a covenant with Jonathan. (1 Samuel 18:3)

In this story, King Saul represents the human race. He is like Adam who sinned against God and forfeited all that God gave to man. He had the position, but not the power anymore because of sin. Jonathan, who came after Saul, represents Jesus, who came as a human. Jonathan was not like Saul—he was good, just as Jesus is not like Adam—Jesus is the perfect Man. David represents God. So Jonathan’s covenant with David speaks of Jesus’ covenant with God. Mephibosheth represents believers today who are “lame” in some way—sick, depressed, fearful, poor and so on.

Now, Mephibosheth became lame because of bad news that was based on a lie. Many believers today are suffering needlessly because they believe the wrong things about God. They think, “My sin has found me out! God is coming after me!”

Well, I have good news for all Mephibosheths: David is not after your life! When David looked for Mephibosheth, it was to show him kindness, to take care of him and restore to him the land that had belonged to Saul his grandfather.

Likewise, God is not out to get you. He knows all about your sins and still loves you. That is why He sent Jesus as the payment for your sins. And because of Jesus’ covenant with Him, He says to you, “Don’t be afraid, I will surely show you kindness. I will restore all to you and you shall always eat at My table!”

Don't Waste Time Wondering
Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
– Ephesians 5:17

So many believers wring their hands and worry about whether or not they’re praying according to God’s will. “Oh, dear me,” they say, “I certainly can’t expect God to do something for me that’s outside His will.” And they’re absolutely right.

But they don’t need to waste time standing around looking puzzled. They need to grab their Bibles and find out what the will of God is.

God has made some very specific promises in His Word and it’s His will to fulfill every one of them in your life. In fact, those promises are divinely guaranteed by a contract that’s been signed in the blood of Jesus.

Think of it this way. Your Bible is the last will and testament of Jesus Christ. It is a record of your inheritance. Everything that belongs to you has been written down in that Book and the smartest thing you can do is to find out what is in it. Don’t leave it lying on the coffee table and hit the floor crying, “Oh, God! Oh, God! I’m searching for the truth.”

Pick up your Bible from the coffee table and find out what belongs to you! Find out how you need to change to get in line with God’s will.

Most people don’t do that. They try to change God instead. They’ll go on and on trying to convince God just how badly they hurt or how poor they are. They’ll beg and plead and wheedle, all the while acting as though they had to somehow change God’s mind about the situation. Those folks are in for a long wait.

God is never going to change. The Bible says He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever. His will is too. So don’t waste your time wondering if your prayers are in line with it. Get the Book and base your prayers on it. Then you can rest assured the answer is on the way!

PDP to Buhari: Respond to Issues Raised by APC Chieftain, Timi Frank

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) urges President Muhammadu Buhari to quickly respond to issues contained in the Open Letter addressed to him by a chieftain of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank.

President Buhari’s response has become imperative given the weighty issue of humongous corruption, intimidation of citizens, erosion of freedom, constitutional breaches and persecution of citizens under the guise of fight against corruption, for which Nigerians and the international community demand immediate explanations.

The PDP commends Timi Frank's action as patriotic, bold, courageous and in the interest of the nation. We therefore urge other democrats and public-spirited persons in the APC to speak out for our nation and take the bold step of withdrawing from the APC and rallying with other well-meaning Nigerians in the repositioned PDP.

We implore them to come and join hands with other democrats, who are daily working on the modality to rescue the soul of our nation from the stranglehold of the APC and the Buhari Presidency.

Finally, the PDP cautions the APC to stop the unwarranted attack against Timi Frank and others who boldly state the truth, particularly as the current tide of our nation requires the support of patriots, who will rise above partisan sentiments.

PDP To Buhari: Be Ready To Accept Defeat

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) charges President Muhammadu Buhari to be prepared to accept defeat in the 2019 general election, given that all indices, including those released by his Presidency, show that Nigerians across board have overtly rejected him for another four years in office.

Indeed, with the degenerated economic, security and social situations in our nation under his incompetent and anti-people administration, in addition to the spate and weight of direct disapprovals from Nigerians and international bodies, President Buhari knows that he is now swimming against the tide.

Apart from the acute poverty, hunger and starvation he brought, Nigerians have reached a consensus that President Buhari has betrayed the trust of the ordinary people, particularly in the north, especially with scandalous revelations that he is not indeed pro-poor and uncorrupt as they were made to believe in 2015.

This is in addition to his disconcerting aloofness to the plight of citizens, his failure to initiate and implement any development project in any party of the country and the refusal to fulfill the littlest of his 2015 campaign promises.

Today, the electorate have come to terms with the fact that the promises by President Buhari and his APC are all a big scam.

In fact, our investigations have revealed that President Buhari never intended to fulfill any of his promises. This is because, three years down the line, our President cannot even boast of any clear-cut implementation blueprint on his promises.

Instead, our dear President and his cronies acquired a life of opulence, going on foreign tastes and swimming in ocean of corruption, while million of Nigerians who voted him into power are abandoned to languished in poverty and bloodletting occasioned by the APC misrule.

President Buhari’s handlers, in their shouting match, should know that Nigerians are only clamouring for his expulsion from Aso Rock come 2019 because our nation does not have provisions for mid-term elections. Had such been in our statutes book, Nigerians would have since chased this incompetent, insensitive and tactless President away from office.

It is a notorious fact that our dear nation and our citizens have not had it this bad since our independence in 1960, leading to the general indignation against the Buhari Presidency.

Even President Buhari’s aide, Mallam Shehu Garba, has acknowledged that Nigerians across board, including parliamentarians, policemen, custom officials, immigration officials, civil servants and the business community are all clamouring for an end to the Buhari Presidency, come 2019.

Now that the multitude of artisans, market women, transporters, labourers, small scale entrepreneurs and professionals, whose businesses have collapsed are teamed with the army of unemployed youths, deprived widows and victims of bloodlettings across our country, in clamouring against President Buhari, who then is left to vote for him in 2019.    

The Presidency should therefore not be surprised that our citizens are now rallying on the platform of the repositioned PDP, a party known for all-inclusiveness and people-oriented policies, to rescue the nation from grips of the Buhari-led APC administration.

APC Chieftain Apologises to Jonathan

APC chieftain apologizes to Jonathan, says ‘Life worthless under Buhari’

NEWS DIGEST – Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Timi Frank, has apologised to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, alleging that life is worthless under President Muhammadu Buhari.

Frank, one of the then opposition leaders who criticised Jonathan in the buildup to the 2015 election, conveyed his apology in an open letter.

He explained that he apologised to Jonathan because events in the last three years showed that the ex-president was a better leader.

“I would first of all like to use this opportunity to formally apologise to the immediate past President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, for all the tantrums and mistreatment orchestrated by me against his person while he held sway at the helm of affairs of our great country,” the letter read.

“Indeed, I and many others may have misunderstood Jonathan’s silence for weakness and thus pushed harder to malign his person and portray him as a weak leader.

“Having achieved the change agenda, it is now crystal clear, that the change we had clamoured for is not the change we got. Under your (Buhari) tenure the rule of law has been replaced with the rule of force. You have injected fear into the society. People who voted for you to save them from corruption and ineptitude have been barred from speaking up against the myriads of evil and wicked acts being perpetrated by officials in your government.

“Unfortunately, corruption is in the upward swing under your watch. This is why I had to apologize to Jonathan since events of the last three years have shown the former president was a better leader.

“People freely expressed themselves under Jonathan’s administration without fear of being branded cultists’ sponsors, gunrunners or aiding murderers. But not so under this administration.

“Under Jonathan, Nigerians enjoyed freedom of speech, association and right to hold dissenting views including organising and partaking in protests against unwelcome government policies. All these are no go areas today. Does it mean Jonathan was a better democrat? It is a fact that no member of the APC which was then in the opposition before 2015 was jailed or harassed for expressing dissent.”

He said the current government has shown disdain for court orders.

“El-Zakzaky and Dasuki will not be in jail today but for the present rule of force under this government. It is a pity that today democracy and freedom have become scarce. Insecurity continues unabated,” he wrote.

“Killings take place on a daily basis across the country either by kidnappers, Boko Haram insurgents, herdsmen, and other criminal elements having a free reign around the country. Life has become worthless and uncertain and people cannot speak out for fear of being labeled anti-government by your regime.

“Besides, instead of heeding the wise counsel of leaders like Obasanjo, IBB, TY. Danjuma, General Gowon, and religious leaders like Bakare and Oyedepo, you have again declared to seek reelection as President. You even boasted in Bauchi that you will be reelected which was akin to saying you will rig yourself back into office.”

Frank added that history will not be fair to him if he had championed campaigns against Jonathan and remained silent in the face of “anti-democratic tendencies and sheer impunity”.

Free From the Curse
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.
– Galatians 3:13

You know the story. Satan came to Adam’s wife in the form of a serpent and deceived her into disobeying God. Adam, although he was not deceived, followed suit.

When Satan came into the Garden that day, he didn’t have any power at all. He had to come in like a sneak, not even talking to Adam directly but talking to his wife.

Now Adam was standing there, and he should have kicked him out right then. But he didn’t. He set aside the command God had given him and did what Satan told him to do instead. And when he did that, he made Satan his lord.

In bowing his knee to Satan, Adam gave Satan the authority that God had given him. He made Satan the illegitimate ruler of the earth. Immediately things changed. Through one man’s trespass, death passed to all men (Romans 5:12).

The earth and everything in it was suddenly cursed.

“OK,” you say, “are we to live under this curse for the rest of our lives? Wasn’t there anything God could do?”

He could and He did! He sent Jesus. Through Jesus, He set us free from the curse (Galatians 3:13).

The moment you made Jesus Christ Lord of your life, you were delivered from the lordship of Satan. You were redeemed from the curse. I didn’t say the curse wasn’t out there anymore. It is! You can see it all around you. But now you have a choice. You have authority over it in the Name of Jesus, so you can stand against it.

God’s done everything that love can do. He sent Jesus to redeem you from the curse. The rest is up to you. Now you must appropriate what has already been done for you.
