PDP Cautions Buhari Over His Utterances About Nigeria Abroad

‘Mr. President, Your Statements Are Demarketing Nigeria’ - PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) draws the attention of Nigerians to
the harmful consequences of the unabated negative statements from the
very father of the nation, President Muhammadu Buhari, on the economy
and the general image of the country.

The party said “it is worrisome that in the last six months, the
President, instead of making efforts to harness resources and grow the
economy, has rather continued to apply himself, perhaps unwittingly, to
demarketing the nation and scaring away investors through negative
labeling of Nigerians and unwarranted unhealthy portrayal of the
nation’s economy”.

The PDP, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa
Metuh on Sunday said the President’s unwary statements have become very
serious clog in the wheel of progress, eroding the confidence of both
domestic and international investors in the Nigerian economic and social
system.

“In the last six months, our President has only succeeded in
discouraging foreign investors with his continued misrepresentation of
our country as a business unfriendly environment, where most of the
citizens are basically corrupt, dishonest, and cannot be trusted.

“Whereas we have restated our total support for the war against
corruption, we insist that Mr. President’s unceasing blanket negative
labeling of citizens, in a country where millions of honest and
hardworking individuals/firms are genuinely contributing daily to the
development effort, is indeed a disservice and injurious to the nation
and the people.

“Furthermore, Mr. President’s recent announcement to the world that the
nation, with its abundant human and natural resources, is broke and
cannot pay cabinet ministers not only sends a discouraging signal to the
domestic and international business community, but also exposes the
ineptitude of the present administration to meaningfully and sincerely
exert itself and work with industrious and innovative investors to
create and manage wealth.

“We ask; how can any reasonable investor still have the confidence to
invest in a country where the President himself continues to alert that
his country reeks of corrupt people and that the government is broke to
the extent it cannot pay cabinet ministers?

“Is the President not directly advising investors against having
confidence in Nigeria and the system, and that they risk not being paid
for jobs awarded by government at any level?

“More worrisome is the fact that Mr. President most times, makes his
damaging comments in international fora with potential investors in
attendance to the extent that reminds one of the proverbial father who,
in the presence of potential suitors, often portrays his daughters as
wayward and yet constantly complain of their inability to find husbands.

“Indeed, this is not the way to go, Nigeria is a country blessed with
abundant human and natural resources. What we need at the moment is a
serious, innovative and practical approach with the capacity to harness
the resources and create wealth for the benefit of all, instead of an
apparently laidback scapegoat tactics with outworn excuses and unhelpful
comments.

“May we remind Mr. President that even in the darkest period of our
economic challenges, successive administrations made efforts in
steadying the economy, while always reassuring our citizens and the
international community of the strength and economic potentials of our
great nation.

“We know that in the desperation to cover its apparent lack of economic
plan, this administration has positioned cabinet ministers, upon
inauguration to concentrate on diversionary blame game on the past PDP
administration. But even this political deceit cannot combat the
unpalatable consequences of Mr. President’s damaging utterances on the
image of the nation and its economy.

Finally, we wish to remind the President and those around him that
Nigerians, by the 2015 elections, have committed the fate of the country
in his hands for the next four years and are not willing to accept
excuses for any economic failures under his watch.

One of the functions of the peace of God—the peace Jesus left with us (John 14:27)—is to help us know the will of God and to help us make decisions.
Long before I had any instruction in walking in the spirit, the Lord taught me from the Word how to hear from Him when making a decision.
Colossians 3:15 in The Amplified Bible says, “Let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from the Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds].” That peace is in you, if you’re born again. When you have to decide between two courses of action, let the peace of God—or the lack of peace—in your heart act as umpire and make a ruling on which way to go. When you have peace, the deep peace that comes from your heart, you’ll know what to do. But if you don’t have peace, if there’s unrest in your heart, you’ll know you’re making the wrong choice.
I use this method frequently. When someone suggests I take a particular action, follow a certain direction or do something in a specific way, I stop, examine my heart and say, “Do I have peace in my heart?”
Sometimes a course of action looks reasonable, sounds like the intelligent thing to do, and may even appeal to me, but before I make a move, I endeavor to find out what’s in my heart about the matter. I always try to go with my heart. When I don’t, when I do something just because it looks reasonable or because someone else thinks it’s the right thing to do, I usually regret it. When I find I’ve made a mistake, and it’s obvious I’ve chosen the wrong way, I look back at what I had in my heart at the time. Usually, I find that I allowed myself to be talked into something when I didn’t really have peace in my heart about it.
It pays to go with your heart! The peace of God will act as an umpire, deciding and settling all questions that arise in your mind. Learn to listen to the peace or lack of peace in your heart before you decide on a course of action. When peace is there—go for it! But when it’s not, just wait until peace comes.
Let peace rule, and peace will be the outcome

The Power of Love But faith...worketh by love. – Galatians 5:6 I used to wonder why we believers didn't see more of the power of God operating among us than we do. With what we know about faith and the Word, it seemed to me signs and wonders and miracles should be happening all the time. So, one day I asked, "Lord, why isn't the power of God turned up to a higher volume in the Church?" Do you know what He said? He told me we weren't walking in enough love yet. God wants us to have power. But first, He has to be sure we'll use that power in love. He wants to know that we won't take it and mix it with judgment and criticism and blast people out of the water. Kenneth, He said, I can't afford to back your words with supernatural power in a church service on Sunday morning and then have you get on the freeway that night and lash out at someone because he pulled over into your lane. You'd blow him off the highway. I can't leave the power of Almighty God at a high volume in the mouth of an unmerciful fool. Then He reminded me of a time I took my son, John, hunting. He was just a little guy at the time, barely big enough to keep his gun from knocking him on his back every time he'd pull the trigger. I was teaching him how to shoot, and he was coming along pretty well. That day we were walking along out at Gloria's grandparents' farm and John spotted one of the biggest tarantula spiders I'd ever seen. It was clinging to the wall of the barn. When John saw that spider, he took aim. He was going to blow that bug away. If I hadn't stopped him, he would have too. And it wouldn't have dawned on him until it was all over that he was going to blow a hole in the barn at the same time. From my grown-up perspective, I could see that would be foolishness. He couldn't. He was looking through the eyes of a child. Do you want God to put a shotgun of spiritual power in your hand, so you can blow the works of the devil to kingdom come? Then focus on love. Pursue it. Practice it. Study it. Grow up in it. Then you'll see the power of God operating through you. Scripture Reading: Romans 13:8-14

Amaechi’s Confirmation, Formal Approval Of Corruption – PDP

The political intrigues surrounding the ministerial screening of former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi and his eventual confirmation for appointment as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by the All Progressives Congress, APC dominated Senate is an official endorsement of corruption and gross abuse of democracy.

This is the view of the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in reaction to the nod given to president Buhari’s choice of Amaechi as one of his Ministers despite the monumental allegations of fraud, looting of State treasury and unprecedented abuse of trust while he held sway as Governor of the State for eight wasted years, as contained in the Justice George Omereji led - Judicial Commission of inquiry and the Rivers State Government white paper which indicted Amaechi.

Making its position known through a press statement by Jerry Needam, his Special Adviser on Media and publicity, the State chairman of PDP, Bro Felix Obuah said for throwing the most revered rules of the Senate and the sanctity of the laws of the land to the winds for the singular reason to compensate an indicted party member does not only amount to fait accompli but also exposes the hypocrisy of the APC-led federal government that anchored its campaign slogan on anti-corruption crusade.

The State PDP Chairman who expressed shock that the APC Senates could descend so low as to fling away the report of  the ethics and privileges committee just to have their way without minding the feelings of the people they are representing amount to formal approval of corruption.

He however, commended the courage of the PDP Senators for staging a walk-out, which is a historic statement that they were not and could not be part of the institutionalization of corruption in Nigeria and the legalization of criminality and scarification of integrity on the altar of loyalty.

Bro Obuah remarked for the umptieth time that Amaechi is only representing the interests of his benefactors and definitely not Rivers people as the State prefers to suffer persecution for standing on the side of truth and what is right to being eulogized and pampered as a chief servant in a slave house.

“While we look to the end of the APC-led federal government which has started on precarious feet of falsehood and deceit, we can only say that the end can never contradict its means which in this case, is suspect.

Our regret is the APC’s disservice and disappointment to the entire Nigerians whose hope of getting a better alternative government from the Buhari administration and 8th Senate has been dashed.

It’s an illusion to think that Amaechi and his like as ministers would perform anything different from what they did while they served in all other capacities”, the State PDP boss declared.
